Yep, Marks journal was a landmark for me. I detest some of the self-promtion on forums, but Mark's contribution was so original he deserves extra leeway.
Yes, I have to agree. As I mentioned, I have similar thoughts and have said similar things in my own posts. I remember suggesting that several folks pull their heads out of their asses for instance. I think many of us are prone to feeling a little frustrated in this environment. I have to say however, the idea of referring traders to a site that then prompts you to subscribe is a bit off putting. Well, market open is just around the corner. Good luck to everyone today. Be patient. Steve46
The fact of the matter Steve is that I can not write the same stuff here that I do on Trading Markets, that would be a breach of contract. I'm sorry, someone offered to compensate me for my thoughts. Should I have turned down money so I can post all my thoughts for free?. If someone offered to compensate you for your thoughts would you honestly turn it down? All the traders I know are capitalists, thats why they got into this business. I'm no different. Also I have said this time and time agian, " PM me I'll answer your questions". Do I ask for money? No. I'll telll you what Steve. You start a new DAX discussion journal, start posting some questions. Keep them related to trading and I'll answer them. I may not get around to them all right away, but I will get around to them.
Steve46, You may want to consider a less pompous approach otherwise readers who have been around a while are likely to view this as self promotion adding little value to our work.
shuman_dahuman, You may want to consider just not replying here unless you really have to, i.e. when you have something valuable to contribute, rather than just write up another flame, otherwise readers who have been around a while... you know the rest. I am however allowed to say this, because I created and maintained this thread in the first place - and with a certain goal in mind, which is reflected in the first posts of this thread as well as the very title of the thread itself. Please abide by it. Anything that derails from that initial topic of conversation, only contributes to more senseless pages and wasted time on the part of readers who are truly interested to gain something here. Thank you for your consideration.
Seems that this thread is getting stale. Perhaps we should focus on the content of this thread. All you haters need to keep your negative energy out of the thread and redirect into a different place. Oryhon is an excellent trader. He has put up posts proving this. He is all pro. I dont see anyone else posting their P/L. I have learned a lot from his posts and been exposed to new markets that I most likely would not have thought about if it werent for Mark Oryhon's posts. I wish more TRADERS like him would post instead of all the Fu_ _ _ _ cat fighting I see on ET.
Mark: Promote yourself in a classy way and everyone will appreciate it. If you want to make a sales presentation that should be apparent up front. If it is, nobody should object to it. I am in the same position. I decided to write a book and I let people know that I am training traders without asking for compensation. In a recent post ("Trading the Truth"), I let everyone know what my intentions were. After that, everything I post here is free. I do it that way because I want people who might someday buy that book, to do so with their eyes wide open, and with an expectation of getting some real value. When I am directed to your employer's site, it feels like you have been "working the room", rather than looking to help your fellow traders. I have no animosity toward you at all. We are all looking to find our way in this business. I wish you good luck with your venture. Steve46
Hi Steve46, nononsense always goes for the stuff posted in what you call a "classy way". As long as it's "classy" enough, he doesn't bother with the rest, except if things get really crazy. Why don't you start posting about your trades for a couple of weeks taking a clue from Mark's examples. For me you are free to include your business references as well. You may put these "apparent up front" or "apparent down below" as you please as long as the classy stuff sits somewhere in betwixt. Be good, nononsense
Nonsense: I only traded once today and I posted it. In fact, If you read my last few posts, you will see that I have been hammering the crap out of the Emini just about every day at 2pm. In addition, without asking for any compensation, I have been posting how I do it. The way I view things, I have done everything but go to each traders home and enter the trade for them. I don't offer advisory services, I don't ask my students for money. I ask them (if they are successful) to make a contribution to a local charity or to do some volunteer work. How can I afford to do that? Well I have been fortunate and I have made money. I don't claim to be a big hitter, but I do make consistent money, and I don't blow it on crap. I drive a truck and I live modestly. If I don't want to work another day I can cash out any time. I can afford to do things for the right reasons, and not to give a shit about what other people think. Now I think thats about as honest as a person can be. Youre a sharp person. I hope you will go with your instincts or alternatively just look at my previous posts. I pretty much just lay it out as I see it. Good luck in the markets tomorrow. Steve46.
