i was just going over some numbers on the last 20 openings with the dax.. velocity_trader mentioned in his journal that he trades 5 min open breaks on the dax so i decided to do some dd.. while 20 openings isnt as large a sample as i would prefer, its what i have for now.. anyway, thought i would post some observations and hopefully compare notes with someone else who trades this strat.. ) win % based on stop size: 2pts stop with 4pt target = 44% win - net 18pts 4pts stop with 4pt target = 67% win - net 40pts (27 total trades) ) optimal target seems to be about 4pts.. while there were some nice moves of well over 20 pts, the win% suffers pretty drastically if i increase the target.. any ideas? -qwik
Really confused here you profess to being a scalper yet your bragging in your own thread about capturing all these points? Your not making any sense at all. I applaude you for making this great intraday swing trade but I find it all shamefully ironic considering you opened this thread with the disclaimer that you would not tolerate any swingtraders here it was a pure scalpers thread and now you post this and celebrate? Your a putz.
I just loaded DAX in my J-Trader Dome and see 10 levels. Anyone know why IB only sends 5 levels of market depth? Seems like a rip-off to charge an extra 12 Euros and then only send half the info. of other platforms which include it for free ....
John, Don't forget you pay $750 per month or so for your J-Trader. I pay $0 for my IB. Don't you feel ripped of by this? Let's not even talk about API's. I wrote enough about this in the past. Allowing for differences in trading styles, I am more than satisfied with 5 levels. I wouldn't know what to use 7 more levels for. Stick with what you are happy with. Be good, nononsense
If you're paying $750 for jtrader you might want to shop around. I pay no platform fee for jtrader and have better commission rates than IB plus I get excellent service. Clearing thru ghco. Actually I believe that $1/rt of my commissions goes to a platform fee but no fixed monthly fee and as I said total commissions rate still beats IB.
Hey nononsense, $750 / month for J-Trader? Man, no decent broker / clearer even asks that for X_Trader!!! J-Trader is an amateurish POS, and therefore should be (and usually is) free. Shop around. There's plenty of brokers offering J-Trader free.
I don't know if I would say it's amateurish POS. I've been using it for years and it's served me well, better than IB TWS. If you don't do the volume to justify xtrader then jtrader is fine. Personally although I use xtrader I find myself still trading my jtrader account for ES most of the time.
