Hahahaaaa What drives Wall St?? Higher profits!!! What makes higher profits?? Cheap labor!!! How to get cheap labor?? Move overseas!!! Start working for 25 cents an hour with no benefits - then MAYBE they might move a few factories back. Until then - grow the government!!! BIGGER!!! Gov't is always behind the times. They think they can pay living wages when all they should really pay is enough to have you living in a tent and eating dog food. Pay companies to export more jobs!! Grow the government!! How's that Alpo doing for ya?
US outsourced their middle class to Chindia. Creating a new impoverished class in the US. Until US workers are ready to compete with the sub $1 hourly wages paid around the world they will remain unemployed and on welfare.
Who needs fat, overpaid American workers when starving foreigners will do it for pennies and let you boff their daughters for free? Start working for pennies - and send you daughters for review.
We're stuck. The elites wanted greater profits through lower wages... but they don't want real estate to crash along with salaries. Why? because the banking system implodes. Well guess what? Real estate IS crashing yet they are holding up the mortgage debts artificially: This won't end well. The crisis is being delayed for a more catastrophic one down the road. It's all an illusion.
Ha-ha-ha, touché, Misthos... That's one handsome ostrich you got yourself there, btw! Best of luck to you too!
After WWII people had money. It took 1 wage earner to take care of a household. Then it took 2 wager-earners. Then jobs went overseas because it was better for us. Now the government has to keep hiring because the private sector was given tax breaks to move to cheaper labor offshore. This is efficient. For those in charge. Now people are complaining about the way things are structured - that the incentives are to move jobs overseas, leaving only the government to hire the slack it creates. These complainers are anti-capitalist. In an efficient, profit-maximizing world, ALL labor would be from overseas. Would you like Purina or Alpo tonight?
Do you have any idea of the size of an ostrich omelet? It can feed a family of four! In the post armageddon collapse, my ostrich will be the envy of the neighborhood.
Actually - in an efficient, profit maximizing world, the cheap, overseas labor would also include the CEO and senior executives, since they are a tremendous cost burden on the profitability of a company. Not to offshore their functions to cheaper labor would be a violation of capitalistic efficiency.
