If you honestly believe that KKD sales are hurt by Atkins, then you need to think a little more. That is pure nonsense and a bullshit excuse by KKD spin team and CNBC. Atkins has been around for 30 years and in that 30 years we have seen donut, sweet & bakery goods grow strongly. Atkins only seriously has an effect on consumption of meat products and Atkins brands. The more recent Atkins craze actually started 2 years ago after the New York Times article. So to say that the effect on KKD is only recent makes little sense. KKD was simply overvalued and hyped up beyond belief. Their sales hit a plateau. Look at Dunkin Donuts who has seen little effect from the Atkins craze. Look at sugar prices, they are rising. JBSS? They make nut snacks. That's Atkins. The stock got demolished from Jan, more than the bakeries you mentioned to short. Long that stock? Definitely not due to the reasons you mentioned, I actually think this stock is way oversold for other reasons. I see your point, but when you post examples like this, I see little chance of making any money with such bs fundamentals.
thats CNBC for you, the same people who were trumping Krispy Kreme, talking about how people are obsessed about the freshest baked and replaying the same clip of the kreme's factory making donuts. then they turn around and talk about how atkins is negatively effecting kkd in a segment played over and over again.
My thoughts: First, they do exist. They just don't need to brag about it. They aren't lacking in self esteem. (1) Traders who are successful have lives outside of trading and don't hang out on bulletin boards posting all day about how successful they are. (2) The bottom line is: Does the trader make enough to pay the bills and continue trading? Are you suggesting to me that because I've not ever posted my trading results online that I'm not successful? I've been doing this for 8 1/2 years with no other source of income. (3) Define "success". Is success making 100K per year? $50K? What are a traders financial obligations? A trader with no mortgage, no credit card debt and no car payments with no dependents obviously could be happy making $50K. But someone with lots of debt and/or with kids may need $100K to get by.
Why T-REX, this is just the type of person you are trying to snare in your relentless SPAM and free promotion/advertising here on ET without having to pay Baron a cent. Still, woudn't matter, your stuff is garbage anyhow. How is your Guardian Angel these days? Does he cover your conscience for you for the dishonest stunts, aliases and relentless promotion you do here on ET?
To all Posters: This is a copy of my previously posted comments and opinion of that "douchebag" Wwwatson. Wwatson: You are a joke. Lindq is waiting to send you the proof you asked for. You agreed to the bet. Put up or shut up. Seems to me you left your balls downstairs at Mom's dinner table. You can't be twenty five years old. Based on your bullshit atitude I will guess that you are about 14. Nice try poser. Well folks: There you have it. Little Wwatson has decided that the term "covered" will now have a new meaning. Thats "covered" as in I wish I had "covered" my ass before Lindq took me up on that bet! Or covered as in I'll wait till everyone has gone to bed before I post one last time to let them know that the bet I made is not going to be "covered". What a ridiculous little twit. Wwell Wwatson, in my opinion you are a complete Wwussy...... I'm going to bump this post up every day until Wwatson pays Lindq his money. In time enough folks will figure it out and just ignore his manipulative crap. Steve46
>I am 25 years old now and have been studying and trading >stocks, futures and options since I was 18. Reading above statement looks like u have seven years experience. Now throwing in the towel saying in cannot be done other than writing options. However been over your post to the board since u joined in 01. Looks more like u been involved in 7 years, but skipping some serious lessons. 6 years into the game ( sep 03) u post an article regarding moving av. crossovers on futures, proving your knowledge in developing methods/systems still have a long way to go (and that is allright). A couple of months (feb 04) later and u looked to be done with futures trading and your on writing calls on high vola. stocks. A few more months and your on writing covered DIA options. Point here being u start on a study, coming 1/10th into it u find it very hard and skipping on lessons. Then trying to blame others for failing to succeed so far and try to justify with with a simple statement that it cannot be done.
Well we'll just agree to disagree, as it's the perception that counts. All I know is I have been short since last August, so while yes it was overvalued on a pure basis, the Atkins diet is also peaking IMO..so that was probably the final nail in the coffin. Best, David
