coolweb, thanks for the response... as i see it, in order to make money you have to learn from well known proved traders who made money in the markets. i start from Jesse Livermor and finishing with Paul Jones, Tom Demark, Mark Fisher, Toby Crable and others. i've been day trading futures for about 4 months using ORB(opening Range breakout ). commisions were eating the profits some of the time. it also depended a lot on psychology applied when trading. when i had bad moods i shouldnt be trading, when i was doing that i ws having losses. Profits are coming to me when i trade with previously prepared "homework" and a good mood during the day, if these are not there i am not trading.
Barli, Its good you are daytrading futures, BTW OPR does not work well for Risk/Reward. I never trade breakouts anymore, its the worst setup around, too many wahoos looking for a piece of the pie, and when that happens, players love fading them. Its good you are noticing emotions are playing a big part when you lose or win, To get you in the know faster, ORB setups are not reliant on your emotions, its just not a good setup to be betting on. It has nothing to do with your emotions
i'd say its 70% discipline and 30 % psychological battle aginst yourself(considerin you got the systems that work for you)
TIME TRAVEL TRADING by my grandfather. My grandfather use to work for NSA engineering back in the 70s all the way till the 80s, Durnig that time, there were lots of conflict and the US government was testing the relatively of time travel. My grandfather was one of the scientists developing the control panel for this machine. It utilized the theory of relativity where time changed from a "force" to the movement of matter along the shortest space in a curved spacetime.. something like that, I'm no scientist. But He was the head designer, and he built a small prototype after he stopped working . I was talking to him the other day about the stock market and he told me.. you know son.. Back in the days I was working on time travel to the "future", and immediately that perked my interest. So I asked him for some more info about his "machine", he told me he can not be in the machine himself because it is relatively dangerous , but he can put a film capturing device to capture film of the future. The thing is , it is very blurry?? as he said? I really didn't beleive him, I thought he was nuts, but he showed me a few times on how he knew about the diasters, and even pointed to me on a few stocks that went up a week ago and it actually did! I was really perked, so I decided to form a partnership with my grandpa, I will start posting buys and sells from what stocks my grandpa can see from his film recorder, and we'll see if we make good money.. I'll post the first few watchlists in a bit, I'll be buying on the open since I don't really trust his time travel, utiliznig my trading skills to verify, I think we can maybe turn this into a very profitable venture.
We can all be rich.....I will certainly be one of those early adopters! What stock should we buy first?
GTK - sold 32.28-.30 So I called my grandpa after I sold and asked him "Whats wrong with these picks you give me, they don't freakin work" You know what he said? "Son, You do know film camcorders capturing prices from a newspaper print is very blurry, I can't pick the exact ones" So I'm like , BULLSHIT, what do you mean, get some spectacles or something, my moneys on the line! So then he said.. "Look Son, I won't argue with you, but I'm looking for a worthy trader to trade these picks, If you can't handle these picks what will we do one we start making big money??" so I replied, well, I ain't stupid grandpa, I'm by far the best trader on this elite site called elitetrader.com , so you working with the best here. but stop giving me these shitty picks. Then he finally said.. "The bird will fly when the bird flies." man I'm pissed, freaking time machines, at least I know how to trade properly not to get burnt Onto tomorrow! I hope he uses a magnify glass or something. what the hell does "the bird will fly when the bird flies" mean? Old people ....
