oy, now stocktr3r calls warren buffett "overated" yikes..for someone who spells panic as "pannick" I say pot, kettle, black.. GOOG, GS, MA,TIE, etc...sold to you big guy...you're the man!
Sell-offs usually occur first and the reasons appear at a later time. In hindsight, the selloff then appears so logical and justified while at the day of the sell-off everyone shook their head and wondered what the hell was going on. Stock prices are not always closely correlated to "reasons". Reasons matter little over the shorter (< 6-8 weeks) time frame. When one is hurt and down 15% (leveraged) and you see a feeble attempt of a bounce, some wish to avoid more pain and will dump material at all cost. Or - worse - are forced to dump. I am not saying we can not sneak our way back to new highs going up 0.5% day by day under wild swings now. Everything is possible. My view though is that such a major and fast implosion in many many big accounts world-wide will take weeks to assess what damage really has been done - if any. It's like a pro football player who collapses on the field with heart pain... He might wanna check into a hospital for a day or two and take a brief pause to get things checked up, even if he subjectively "feels" perfectly well again. IMO it's best to stay with an agnostic market bias until the smoke clears and the majority of capital made up its mind whether to move the prices up or down. Never too late to get back in, even if it's at higher prices. At least you have certainty then.
<i>"The markets will go higher soon unless there is a compelling reason to sell."</i> Markets may very well flutter higher for a bit over the near term, but selling to new recent lows is not complete. You'll know it when you see the near-term bottom put in, rest assured. Everyone will. Not there yet.
Hmm another stable trading day Since tuesday's close the bears have been predicting another big 1-2% selloff but there hasnt been any. Markets are stable and this is generally bullish.
I want a 15% sell off if only so that Kudlow will stfu for at least the next couple weeks That would be so serene and tranquil.
