Brushing aside my ego is eactly what I did... Nobody on this thread has once asked me to explain how I apply these 'teachings'(for lack of better word) to trading, they simply went on egotistical rants about why these 'concepts' are foolish... Faster I know first hand that they are not foolish because I get to see the results day in and day out through trading and life, therefore I have nothing to prove to anybody... I started this thread to share NOT argue... I will leave the ego masturbation to the rest PEACE and good trading Faster, Publias
Ok, then share. I sincerely want to hear how you apply these principles to improve your trading. Please understand my disappointment ...an hour ago i was reading your posts with great delight for the first time. hanging on every word! what great wit and wisdom! you have me laughing, crying, mostly nodding head in agreement, and in awe of such wonderful insight in man so young. so certainly you understand my ire when it ends so abruply and in such a bitter manner. please continue to post & share. FasterPussycat
I was not bitter really, just slightly saddened that my thread had to turn out like this I should have had my head examined for actually thinking I could post Zen and Gita poems without everybody turning it into another "superstition" thread... I sorely underestimated the closed mindedness of ET... But live and learn... As for you enjoying what I had to say on this thread, forgive me if I am a little skeptical, as you laid it on pretty thick But if you are sincere, then ask away! PEACE and goodtrading, Publias
although this thread is getting a bit cumbersome, i feel the need to add my views to this discussion. so here it goes......... i fully understand and respect publias' eastern mindset, but then again, darkhorse's thoughts make sense to me also. the way i understand the basic dichotomy between east and west is that eastern thought deals with the nonlinear, chaos, and uncertainty;whereas western thought is linear, logical, and is cause/effect oriented. it is in the blending of these two concepts that one's mind can be trained for ultra success in the markets. eastern thought is perfect for dealing with the psychological challenges, fluid chaotic enviroment, and ever changing market landscape. HOWEVER, the ability to apply western logic and problem solving skills to the actual execution of trades is critical. the eastern mindset combined with the western way is the BEST WAY. all the best, all the time, surf (the intuitive spiritual materialist)
as i re-read my post, yeah, i laid it on thick didn't i? but i meant every word. admittedly i didn't read this thread because of its superstitious overtones and it seemed more silly stupid nonsense. but curiousity got the better of me (hope it never kills me ) and from the moment i opened this thread you had me. .. i couldn't stop reading. i'm not sure i know enough about the matter to ask a specific question, let's see... here you go: Give one way this has helped your trading?
hey man, long time, no talk. yeah--- dark is a great guy. he stands up for what he believes. i respect that. best, surf
faster, that was bizzare, when i first looked at your post, i only saw part of it, now i see the rest----- yeah, i am a spiritual materialist, i am in touch with my spiritual being, but still like the good life and all the stuff that goes with it. best, surf
~CLARITY~ Purged of ego and selfish attachments Indifferent as the market herself He stands detached as if a mere spectator⦠Transcending the dualities of the human condition Equal in âpleasureâ and âpainâ He flows along with an impenetrable inner peace and strength⦠Immersed within the realm of the present moment Responding as if an echo He sees not what could or should be, but what is⦠THIS IS MY TRUTH PUBLIAS That is a poem I wrote about 4 weeks ago after a spectacular day in the market... Purged of ego and selfish attachments Basicaly it means that on a micro level (trade to trade, day to day) I am not actually putting and taking off trades to "get" something from her... In other words external gratification in the form of $ is the farthest thing from my mind when I am truly in the flow... The only thing I am concerned about is being in the proper mind state to recognize opportunity, to strike on it, and to stay committed to letting it play out... Clarity, Courage, Committment... So I am aiming inward instead of outward... Acting as if there were absolutely no eternal goals whatsoever! I focus on playing well, not making money... If I play well, in the long run (macro) the money will flow right into my account as if it were an afterthought... The market is niether for or against, so why would I be... I cannot 'control' anything eternal, I can only control myself and my actions... Like Douglas so rightly says, every edge will have a natural distribution of wins and losses, you cant control the distribution... So when I say 'indifferent' it is not some passive resignation, it is to simply see through the illusion that "wins" can be wrested from "losses"... Once you can truly embrace this and you are resolved of the results on a micro level, the market simply cannot do anything from trade to trade to inflate or deflate you... You accept, no embrace! whatever may come... and then all of a sudden all is perfectly clear and wins and losses are reallly one in the same because you have seen through the dualties of the two in such a way that on a micro level they are really one in the same... two sides of them same coin, which is opportunity! See Jem and Dark may think that detachment means detachment from reality... Absolutely NOTHING could be further from the truth... You are detached from your ego and the illusions it so often casts... therefore you see REALITY not the perception of reality that your ego distorts... Would you like me to do on with my rambling Faster??? PEACE and good trading, Publias
i love the poem and all the words that follow. After all THIS is the state of consciousness that we should ALL aspire too, don't you agree?
