  1. Interesting to say the least... Chagall's "Fall of Icarus" is hanging at the Pompidou in Paris, maybe they have the fake :p:

  2. covered the goog short this morning with profit. the DJIA approached the upper channel line within 10 points but failed to breach the barrier. staying flat into thursday.

  3. I like a lot of different modern art but have to say that painting doesnt do a thing for me. I dont think Surf was implying his was the original.

  4. chagall's style is definately not for everyone. my tastes change from pop art to folk to modern. what is your favorite artist/art?

  5. OK, going to be in automode today with the DJIA system. remember to wait a full 3 minutes to enter after channel is breached and in the event of a cash gap, its a nine minute wait to determine the next level of entry--- high or low of the nine minutes becomes the next channel level to be breached. 5 trys at each level without capturing profit before discarded and new calculations performed---once a level is proved not effective, both sides of the channel are reformed, not just the one the proved erroneous ( rare ).

    best wishes!

ps. little stock SNFX has jumped up again--- it may be worth your while to check it out!

  6. system stayed flat today, but i am in the first stage of actual capital testing of the "surfer channel failure system". my friend and ET member PEKELO first pointed out this idea to me some time ago and heavy testing seems to point out value in the method. yesterday was a perfect example, price approached the upper channel line, hesitated, then today plummeted back down thru the channel. here's how it works: when price approaches the channel line, within 15 DJIA cash points, and hesitates or begins to retreat from the line, short or long positions are instituted in an attempt to catch the fade move--hence the name "surfer channel failure system". never stay in the position if the line is broken in the correct direction by 3 minutes--this is the stop/reverse point. other than that rule, how you manage the trade after its in profits is purely a function of your trade management. this secondary system will be functional tomorrow at the shack.

    take care,

I don't remember, but I will take the credit. Here is another idea:

I don't know how you calculate the channel, but for my taste it is a bit too wide with its usual 150-200 points. I like the way that you can stay in the wave for days, so here is a little combination:

Why don't we make the channel when the Dow crosses back from the BB on the monthly chart? The channel would be like 20-20 points both directions with a let's say 20 points stop loss. The last 3 times it worked like a baby, here is an example:

On Jan 11th the Dow crosses back from outside of the upper BB at 11030. So the channel would be 11010-11050. Whichever direction it was left you jump on with the 20 points stop loss. As we know it dropped a hefty 300 points from there.

On Jan 20 it crosses back from the lower BB at 10675. So the channel would be 10650-10700. As we know the market advanced a beautiful 250 points from there.

The whole change is compared to your strategy that:

    1. The channel is narrower, thus we capture more of the move.

    2. We try to pick points where there will be no sideways movement, causing us to jump in and out of position several times.

What do you say? Shoul I post a chart???

Here it is. The reason for having a channel is because it doesn't always work so clearly like in these last 2 occasions....
