  1. vic's speech on thursday evening was excellent ! he spoke about deception, market behavior and the book "triumph of the optimists", providing insightful and humorous comments thruout the speech. it was cool meeting those of you who attended.

What vic had to say was interesting, but it definately wasn't geared toward traders, more like long term investors I would say. For example he said he didn't know why anyone would want to short the market because the overall trend over the years has been up. He said not to bother with commodities because prices have been relatively unchanged over the last 100 years. I have to say I was disappointed. I think the traders who came were expecting something deeper, one futures trader who sat next to me left early... Oh and vic definately has something against Warren Buffet, yet the guy has managed to achieve average annualized returns of 30% over the last twenty something years.

But on the bright side the previous speakers on security and cancer were pretty cool and I couldn't help but laugh at vic's pink pants when I first saw him. He's a nice guy overall, just tends to be all over the place.

Wish I knew which one of the audience members you were. :D

  3. hi,

i was the guy sitting on the steps, way in the back. got there a little late due to traffic in the lincoln tunnel. i am friends with the guy who spoke on terrorism-- he is an amazing person with wide reaching intellect and deep knowledge of multiple subjects.

yeah, vic does wander a bit in his presentations but the info is top notch and sometimes veiled a little. you need to read between the lines for max benefit. those pants are his trademark, i was surprised to see him actually wearing shoes!

  4. Read between the lines?

Is that your excuse for his lack of focus, simplicity and clarity?

  6. Sorry, but I disagree. I think you refuse to see him clearly and are biased and predisposed to defend him.

  7. you are speaking without knowledge. i thought vic was brilliant before he was my friend, and he is brilliant. one of the last living masters of the game. so what are you talking about ??

  8. See, you just admitted that you are biased in your evaluation of his speech, as you already had elevated him to "brilliant" before you became his "friend."

lol, I guess you got to look at the back of my head. I was the guy sitting on the left side near the middle isle in the second to last row. I had a Stocks & Commodoties Issue on the seat next to me and a very large man sitting right behind me.

If the person who spoke on terrorism ever comes back as a guest speaker I'd very much like to attend.
