The Surf Report--part 2

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by marketsurfer, Mar 2, 2011.

  1. Gabby,

If you are a hardcore freegan, a trip to your local book store will allow you read the book for free and discover the answer for yourself.(unless they have banned you ) Authors simply don't give up info in their books in a public forum when they want folks to buy the books.

If the local book store has you on the "persona non grata" list, I bet if you send Covel a repectable request, he will send you a copy for free. ever think of that?

I personally have not seen the book, and don't know what's in it. However, I do know that one or more of ET's favorite stealth vendor types are said to be making an unauthorized appearance between its pages.

  2. You are a swing trader so your sentiment metrics will be different than mine, as I go day by day and take advantage of intraday movements only.

I can't speak for everyone's time frames because, obviously as the time frames get larger and larger, so do the potential for larger moves (both in your favor and against). And so each trader will need to understand their key mkt levels based on the frames which they use

I pay close attention to how the mkt acts near recent highs/lows, and I generally have a very good read on the mkt and it's potential to either continue through a level or reverse from there. No guessing involved, it's all determined by the price action that occurs at these levels. If I see what I determine (based on several factors) to be continuation PA I look to enter in that direction, if I see counter action (again based on certain metrics) then I'll look to enter on the opposite side and if I do not get a clear signal either way, I wait until I do and I do not place a trade at that level until I do get a clear signal.

PS Sorry for the late response, your post lined up with a long signal so I was occupied for a few moments.

  3. Thank you, Fireplace. several more questions, please

    1. Do you believe the market is "fractal" like most TA's?

    2. How do you define recent highs/lows specifically?

    3. Does your trading method require intuition or feel? is it subjective>

    4. Can it be programmed to run automatically? is it objective>

    best,

  4. Getting squeezed here with shorts--- gonna throw in the towel at 1274.25---- holding for now and remaining confident.....as ES looks (subjectively) to me to be overbought right now.

  5. When you say 'most TA's' you are grouping me in with people who use an almost unlimited number of ways to view and trade the mkt. So this designation is way too general. There MAY be some overlap or there may be absolutely none, TA is very very broad. Blind TA (what I call those who use just chart patters or indicators alone) is not something I subscribe to at all, fyi.

I'm not going to get into too many specifics because I am not a vendor. I'm just a trader. I worked incredibly hard for several years to come up with my proprietary system and the last thing I want is to open myself up too much. You will understand this, as you also feel that one can choose to share as little or as much as they want.

PS My system CAN be automated but it's currently not. I've already crafted the logic for the code, but am still happy to trade it manually. Perhaps someday I will go fully automated.

  7. Can't the author just answer a simple and straightforward question in his own thread where he promotes his own book? Looks like you may also have an autonomic response thing going on here, Rodney, or are you perhaps just tending to your garden again? Please let me know if you'd like me to be more specific.

  8. Good thing it was only 10 lots...could have been much worse. Sorry that the trade didn't work out man.

  9.

This thread is THE SURF REPORT. Who's promoting a book in this thread?

  10. Follow the breadcrumbs and see how we got here. And if you're unwilling to do so, then why did you chime in on that very subject to begin with?
