The Surf Report--part 2

  1. Thanks for the "insider" view, ER. Your perspective and ideas are always welcomed. It's great to hear from an actual playa instead of the normal ET parrots. Surf

  2. This is your trading thread. It is a journal thread. Why are you so reluctant to keep a running total for easy access and interpretation of your overal trading performance over time? If you are going to the trouble of posting your entries and exits, along with their size, what makes that one little extra step so overwhelmingly prohibitive for you?

  3. That's done in my account, not in a forum. Why in heavens name would that be helpful to anyone without evil intent? Either you follow, trade, or read for entertainment or you do not--- your quest for info is troubling.

  4. "Evil intent?" To want to know how you fare over time, and on balance, with your various calls? And only because you chose to share your "gift" with the world? "Evil intent?!" "Troubling?!" Would this be another example of the drama in which you surround yourself?

Gadfly1- I have to agree with this. It is stupid and Narcissistic to post the amount of money that you make per trade.

In fact, 99% of those ass clowns on ET that Post their "P&L" i have to laugh at. Most of the P&Ls are fake and those who post real P&L are not making much money....if you read the P&L numbers.

Second, when I was trading at Schonfeld and at Last Atlantis, individual P&Ls were private. Nobody really shared their P&Ls. In fact my mentor would call out trades, we would follow his lead. He used this method to teach us in the beginning. However, he did not share his P&L with people.

In the Private Equity World, People understand or may understand my takedown in a deal. They may know the % but I never tell them the actual amount. They can figure it out based on the size of the takedown and the amount raised.

In other words, Surf makes 100% sense on this one.

  6. Exactly, ER. Most of these gabby types are corporate cubicle cowboys and even librarians who live and die on the accuracy of their widget counts. Gabby seeks to destroy anything he sees as success or he doesn't understand which may be the root cause of his insistence Instead of simply running the numbers himself from the journal.

  7. How is the request for an accurate depiction tantamount to destroying anything? Unless, of course, you fear what the aggregate numbers will reveal over time...

  8. He is already revealing the size and timing of his trades, comprising entry, additions and exit. What additional and unacceptable disclosure would a running P/L involve?
