The Surf Report--part 2

  1. Thank Prado. Sometimes you just have to go for it. I decided this situation is simply too big for anything less than total commitment. Either victory, or I'll be gone from futures trading.

One of the recurring themes of classics like Reminiscences and Stock Market Wizards is the danger of conviction. It's a malaise rooted in prioritizing yourself over an indifferent reality.

The notion that "who you are and what you think is 100% meaningless" is disturbing. But it's reality. Aside from a select few, if you'd never been born, the world would still be the same. Who you voted for, that last can you recycled: pointless. We are almost infinitely small, despite how it seems in our normal lives.

Consistent traders say banal shit like, "don't fight the market" or "don't get married to a position". What the ultimate conclusion is: "remember you're nothing". The market really is incomprehensibly large. When you start thinking that adverse movements are manipulation or that you can interpret things accurately without black and white evidence, you're fighting your own meaninglessness.

You and I don't mean shit. If you're married to who you are on ET, you'll get what you ultimately want: confirmation that you're nothing. Only testing systems objectively will get you beyond your sense of self as the arbiter of truth.

    This ain't trading Surf......it's gambling.

I guess if you throw out patience, risk management, position sizing......then your strategy completely makes sense.

Honestly......you sound like a newbie paper trader. Harsh perhaps...but the truth. Anyways...hopefully the SP's puke for a few days, you make back your money.

But I can guarantee you that if you keep up trading like this you will blow out at some point. Just like your boy VN did.

  4. that is marxist. we only live once. gotta take risks sometimes. life isn't all about optimizing the upward equity curve cos within everyone's lifetime, the national system blows up once or twice anyhow and we all go back to zero whether we choose to or not.

  5. Well said Lights. In the words of the immortal James Altucher in his blog post today as a paraphrase:

"in a 100 years, all the monsters in this house will be dead"

One can mitigate risk all they wish, but that isn't living.

You'll lose everything in the next one, so retire after this one.

Surf, you do realize that all of your credibility has gone out the window here. Let's be honest. You aren't trading a real account. You are fantasy trading. No real trader with a real account would make a move like this. You are trading 3-6 lots in a "real account", now you go up to a 30? Sorry Surf, but this is not believable at all.

Either you blow out on this one or luckily survive, but basically this thread is now deemed meaningless. As are all paper trading accounts.

This performance of yours is no better than the snake oil salesman that pollute this site.
