Funny thing about days like today, i actually had the trade of the day on my radar and was ready on two seperate occasions to start shorting HTZ, but it was only a downgrade so i wanted some kind of a pullback, plus i had no clue it would keep going through 15, but this is a setup i really like both long and short on the daily, you got the double top, you see it clear out the previous days lows on the gap down, it usually keeps going and running stops, but because the news was not that big, just a downgrade, i wanted the entry to be perfect, was looking at shorting it through 16 premarket, then decided against it then on the big pullback early morning i wanted for it to get closer to 16, so i could stop out around that number, both times i just missed it. Never would have held all the way to the bottom but it was a good setup.
Well UA was my white Whale, and just like Captain Ahab i went down with the ship, i was sized in too aggressively to early, just dropped 1600 bucks. The Goal now is not to compound this, i got conviction on the wrong trade and i was wrong, dead wrong, the only thing i can say I did right, is that i didnt just average down into it like crazy, which is the death sentence as a trader, I was wrong, I let it go way to far, and i paid the price, but i didnt turn it into something that does much more than a half a week of damage. Ooooof i top ticked it too, this is probably my worst trade all year when i look back on it.
This is why big losers crush an account, after i got smacked on UA i played it cautious on LL, i should have added to LL when it was a winner instead of adding to UA before it confirmed. Didnt have enough size to make up for UA, but i nailed LL. I had 700 shares of LL i should have added to it a couple times on confirmation but i got stung so i didnt want to size into this, down to just 100 shares now looking to build in again on pullbacks.
You think thats a Flop??? Hold my beer! I think i just made the worst trade in the history of ET. Top ticked the stop out with size, then didnt want to hit it big short the second time and finally jusy convinced myself to leave, and say that i was wrong.
Be careful man! Don't go on tilt. If you do this can only get worse. All you gotta do is wait for the best set ups and don't chase mediocre stuff. Tomorrow is a new day and all that.
