Sorry guys, i apologize for leaving after thursday last week with not much notice, on thursday of last week i took a bit of a bath in the market, lost like 3k i think, one of my worst days of the year, but lots of stuff had been catching up to me in terms of trading, life, politics, and i was just really angry after thursday, i took a bath averaging into BABA, and NTNX, while the ES was puking, and I totally missed the obvious short setup in the ES, by getting stubborn. So i kind of just figured the best thing to do was to take a week off, and not look at the markets or the computer, i just worked on my house and golfed for a week, and didnt even think about any of this shit. I had basically been on tilt when i looked at the numbers ever since the big tax bill, but i got bailed out on a few real big trades, so somehow i managed to not get completely killed despite trading really poorly, but i know how that ends if you just keep on swinging, I went from grinding it out 500-1000 bucks at a time to taking some wild pnl swings on trade after trade, at the end of the whole fiasco i was still up a couple k on the month which covers my nut, so i just decided to take a week off. Staring at charts twelve hours a day and listening to politics, and bad shit happening in real life takes a toll on you eventually if you dont just unwind from time to time, i figured at best i would breakeven the way i had been trading, and at worst i was setting myself up for a big train wreck, typically this next couple weeks leading into the labor day long weekend in september is just garbage anyways, so i just decided to walk away for a bit. Tomorrow morning im back in the saddle, but ill be trading light probably mostly just looking at things, trying to get my feel back. Thx for all the posts, and for keeping the journal alive while i was gone guys, without you all posting here i probably would have lost interest in this a long time ago! I really appreciate all you guys posts in here, ive learned a ton from you guys!
Heads up tomorrow morning on insurance companies in Texas, there is going to be some stocks in play for anyone who can figure out the insurance companies with the biggest exposure in Texas. Insurance plays after Hurricanes are usually tough to find, but highly rewarding, its tough to find who is exposed, but if anyone out there knows who has high exposure to this please share, some insurance company out there is going to get crushed on the open on this tomorrow.
Hmmmm. Now who do we know at the STHH that knows insurance? AIG took a 1B loss on Katrina. Here's a 2015 list of the largest exposure in TX. State Farm is owned by the policyholders so no play there. Allstate (ALL) selloff started two days ago. https://webcache.googleusercontent....he+most+exposure+in+texas&gbv=1&hl=en&ct=clnk
