ya, all those decades of research performed by 1000's of scientists and credentialed experts in their respective fields published in 1000's of peer reviewed journals evidencing that FAT raises cholesterol and heart disease risk is all just a conspiratorial "big fat lie". ya , sure. and the PROOF, one stupid video ROFL!
Atherogenic diets enriched in saturated, n-6 polyunsaturated, and monounsaturated fatty acids were fed to African green monkeys for 5 years to define effects on plasma lipoproteins and coronary artery atherosclerosis. In sum, the monkeys fed monounsaturated fat developed equivalent amounts of coronary artery atherosclerosis as those fed saturated fat, but monkeys fed polyunsaturated fat developed less. The beneficial effects of the lower LDL and higher HDL in the animals fed monounsaturated fat apparently were offset by the atherogenic shifts in LDL particle composition. Dietary polyunsaturated fat appears to result in the least amount of coronary artery atherosclerosis because it prevents cholesteryl oleate accumulation in LDL and the coronary arteries in these primates. Compared With Dietary Monounsaturated and Saturated Fat, Polyunsaturated Fat Protects African Green Monkeys From Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis http://atvb.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/15/12/2101 these minkeys had to eat what they were fed, they couldn't cheat. their diet was very controlled and measured. FAT IS BAD! SAT FAT IS VERY BAD! MONO FAT SUCKS A BIG ONE TOO! PLANTS ARE POLY! WHOLE PLANTS ARE GOOD!
"My biochemical knowledge was still intact at that time and I knew that cholesterol was one of the most important molecules in our body, indispensable for the building of our cells and for producing stress and sex hormones as well as vitamin D. The idea that cholesterol in the blood." http://www.thincs.org/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The caveat over trans-fats is, of course, well founded. But why they still take the low-saturated fat line is beyond me since it is polyunsaturated fats that have been shown to be causative in metabolic syndrome. I can only suppose that, because trans fats were used as an artificial substitutes for saturated fats in the days before saturated fats were found to be beneficial, the two types of fat are still classed together, despite being quite different as far as heart health is concerned. In a nutshell, trans fats are harmful; while saturated fats are beneficial. However, since this study is a small step in the right direction â lowering carbs and increasing fats, I suppose it is too much to ask that the go the whole hog in one step. If they did that, they would be admitting they had been wrong before. http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/moderate-fat-diet-healthier-than-low-fat-diet.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conclusions: This is the first study to examine the effects of low fat vs. moderate fat diet in MetS. MF compared to LF diet improves the atherogenic dyslipidemia of MetS. MF diet is a preferable dietary intervention in people with MetS to improve CVD risk. http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/Moderate-Fat-vs-Low-Fat.pdf killthesunshine, this link above is 2009 American heart association findings. The trend now is looking at some saturated fat in diet as very good and healthy. Change take a long time because the science say before, NO SATURATED FAT. So this is what most people (and scientist) think is true BEFORE. Change in peoples mind take a long time.
your first link is opinion not research. (big raspberry) your second link is opinion not research. (big raspberry ) your third link does NOT support your contention that saturated fat is good. BOTH groups ate a low 8% saturated fat. how does that mean saturated fat is a requirement in a healthy diet? read my MINKEY STUDY! those minkeys cannot lie about what they ate!
All the links are from the doctors and scientists. They look at (past) conclusions and question. YOUR opinion is NO SATURATED FAT. The doctors and scientist say saturated fat have many good functions. NONE say to have ALL calories from the saturated fat. Read this links again. See the change in the findings?
I think the new (hypothesis?) about the saturated fat should be explore, and not take past conclusion like a god to not question. Have some coconut if you can not like meat, hedge your bet!
