it's all true. aside from saving your health saving the environment is another benefit to meat elimination/restriction.
You debate from the begginning of the thread that SATURATED FAT is CAUSE of heart disease. So new research show the old research for that hypothesis have flaws. New research show heart disease to be linked to addition of man made TRANS fat in the diet more likely. To debate about beef and environment is different debate.
I'm not sure what "new research" you are thinking of but saturated fat still KILLS. Trans fat is just as bad or worse.
You did not see the links of this thread? How thousands of years people eat meat, but when the TRANS FAT is put in the food the heart disease is greater? How TRANS FAT put the proper ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 off the balance? How that ratio effect INFLAMMATION? How INFLAMMATION is relationship to heart disease? Ok.
The cheeseburger and French fries might look tempting, but eating a serving of broccoli or leafy greens first could help people battle metabolic processes that lead to obesity and heart disease, a new University of Florida study shows. "We need to find a way to encourage people to pull back on fat and eat more foods rich in micronutrients and trace minerals from fruits, vegetables, whole grains and soy," said Vincent, an assistant professor in the UF Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute. "Fill your plate with colorful, low-calorie, varied-texture foods derived from plants first. By slowly eating phytochemical-rich foods .... "Diets low in plant-based foods affect health over the course of a long period of time," Vincent said. "This is related to annual weight gain, low levels of inflammation and oxidative stress. Those are the onset processes of disease that debilitate people later in life." http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/10/091021144251.htm MEAT IS CAT FOOD! PLANTS ARE PEOPLE FOOD!
Nobody said not to eat plants. I ate carrots, broccoli and some other veges today for Thanksgiving but I also ate a LOT of turkey! Gobble gobble gobble!

"To get enough of these protective phytochemicals, researchers suggest eating plant-based foods such as leafy greens, fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes at the start of a meal." "Consumers should stick with what we have known for decades and eat fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables," she said. "Stick with those kinds of foods rather than reaching out for a tropical wonder pill or juice." http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/10/091021144251.htm EAT HIGH ON THE PLANT!
