You are speechless. All you got are weak jabs of no substance. Sell all your possessions, go forth and go North to live among the Inupiat - "the real people''. Learn from thousands of years of their ancient knowledge that is already known. Knowledge that they posses and science has yet to uncover. Consume their ancient diet of all meat. Forgo the little vegetable that cannot sustain man. Or just continue with whatever you are doing. I really don't care what you do.
The apparent "paradox" has been explained some time ago..intuits have high heart disease, stroke and diabetes. They also die +10 yrs sooner. The difference in diagnosis, classification and reporting of CVD in those remote locales accounts for the discrepancy or apparent "paradox". When the reported data was reexamined and reassessed there is no paradox; they are less healthy and die sooner. Get a clue.
Gotta source, Vegan Times? I would rather believe data directly from the Inuit as in the Discover Mag article. Show me where they have studied those that are on their traditional diet. None are any more. Of course they are sicker and die sooner now, why wouldn't they. They are being sickened by grains, and other modern crap. As time goes by and they eat more processed grains, they get sicker. Few if any are now on their traditional diet. Introduce grains and processed crap, what do you expect. Yet they are only half as sick as the general population as the article mentioned of those that adhere to half of their traditional diet. As all cultures' diets become Westernized, the incidence of heart disease, cancer and diabetes increases from nearly non-existent to catastrophic levels, and at younger and younger ages. Native Americans' degenerative disease has been a disaster once their hunting-gathering was replaced with SAD. ------------------ Data is from early 20th or 19th century before grains and such garbage were greatly introduced to the extent as today: http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2008/07/inuit-lessons-from-arctic.html The Inuit:Lessons from the Arctic Whole Health Source Blogspot Stephan Guyenet +Weston Price was fascinated by their excellent teeth, good nature and overall robust health. Here's an excerpt from Nutrition and Physical Degeneration: "In his primitive state he has provided an example of physical excellence and dental perfection such as has seldom been excelled by any race in the past or present...we are also deeply concerned to know the formula of his nutrition in order that we may learn from it the secrets that will not only aid in the unfortunate modern or so-called civilized races, but will also, if possible, provide means for assisting in their preservation." +Most groups ate virtually no plant food. Their calories came primarily from fat, up to 75%, with almost no calories coming from carbohydrate. +As with most hunter-gatherer groups, they were free from chronic disease while living a traditional lifestyle, even in old age. +The anthropologist and arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson spent several years living with the Inuit in the early 20th century. He and his fellow Europeans and Americans thrived on the Inuit diet. American doctors were so incredulous that they defied him and a fellow explorer... (Typical Disbelief) + (read about their social structure which is typical among the truly healthy cultures that follow their traditional diet): Yet another amazing thing about the Inuit was their social structure. Here's Dr. John Murdoch again (quoted from Cancer, Disease of Civilization): The women appear to stand on a footing of perfect equality with the men, both in the family and the community. The wife is the constant and trusted companion of the man in everything except the hunt, and her opinion is sought in every bargain or other important undertaking... The affection of parents for their children is extreme, and the children seem to be thoroughly worthy of it. They show hardly a trace of fretfulness or petulance so common among civilized children, and though indulged to an extreme extent are remarkably obedient. Corporal punishment appears to be absolutely unknown, and children are rarely chided or punished in any way. +++Unfortunately, those days are long gone. Since adopting a modern processed-food diet, the health and social structure of the Inuit has deteriorated dramatically. This had already happened to most groups by Weston Price's time, and is virtually complete today. +++++Modern Inuit also suffer from very high rates of diabetes and overweight. This has been linked to changes in diet, particularly the use of white flour, sugar and processed oils. +Overall, the unique lifestyle and diet of the Inuit have a lot to teach us. First, that humans are capable of being healthy as carnivores. Second, that we are able to thrive on a high-fat diet. Third, that we are capable of living well in extremely harsh and diverse environments. Fourth, that the shift from natural foods to processed foods, rather than changes in macronutrient composition, is the true cause of the diseases of civilization. --------------------------------------- In her book Queen of Fats, Susan Allport traces the research of Hans Olaf Bang and Jorn Dyerberg went to Greenland in the 1970s to study the health and eating habits of the Inuit. -The Inuit ate a high fat diet of seal meat, but had low rates of heart disease. -But what is sad is that in the decades following Bang and Dyerbergâs research, more and more processed foods were introduced into the Inuitâs diet, and the rates of heart disease have increased. (That will screw up your wonder studies) http://wunderflax.wordpress.com/2008/06/06/why-dont-the-eskimos-have-heart-disease/
Health Benefits Of Whole Grains Confirmed A diet high in whole grain foods is associated with a significantly lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, according to an analysis conducted by researchers at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. In addition to protecting against cardiovascular disease, which accounts for one-third of deaths worldwide, there is evidence that whole grains also project against diabetes and other chronic conditions. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/05/070509161030.htm DA GRAIN! DA GRAIN!
How can you not "Get" the point? Australian aborines, ingested as much fat, protein, and EVERYTHING they could get there hands on, when they could. But not wombat. They are impossible to cook. They can take out the diff of a a car, do not mess with a wombat. The aborigines thought the same about galah, many cockatoo species actually, they are simply unpalatable, dont matter much what you do. Now, early explorers in this region commented on the bogong moth feasts, as was typical of tribes that knew about it, and took advantage of it-the people "glowed with health", they are the words of said explorer. "Glowed with health". All from insect protein and fat. Pro /against a diet of plants?Against, if thats all I had to live on.
can YOu read? you got aborigine brains " The results of these analyses suggest that even when the traditional Aboriginal diet contained a high proportion of animal foods it would have been low in fat with a high proportion of PUFA and thereby could have protected Aborigines against cardiovascular diseases and related conditions through a combination of factors: low energy density, low saturated fat and relatively high PUFA content."
Yeah, I wouldn't eat that if I were you. Starchitarians are addicted to their carbies. If you have to have grain, eat whole grain. It does not cause as much illness as processed flour with most nutrients removed. If you eat something less poisonous, it will make you less sick, but don't call it a cure. Wheat protein is fed to rats to induce diabetes so the rats can then be experimented on to test drugs etc. The grains, especially wheat are nothing like the ancient grains. They are more toxic with much of the nutrition bred out of them. The older wheat varieties might not be as bad such as Kamut and spelt.
(8) of these provides: 62 grams of protein (+all amino acids) 1650 mgs of Ca+ 48 mgs of iron 12 mgs of Zinc 2.5 mgs of copper 1200 mgs of Vit C 115,600 mcg of Lutein + zeaxanthin 5125 mcg of Vit K 6800 mcg of folate 2.3 grams of Omega 3s in only 850 cals! only 1.6g sat fat! What piece of beaststeak can do that? ans: NONE! ZERO! LOL
I posted previously on this thread and told my story of eating meat, eliminating grains and vastly improving my health including cholesterol, triglycerides and inflammatory response. I learned what I know from a nutritionist with over 40 years of experience who's worked with tens of thousands of patients. Here's what I learned from her and it's a very important lesson: There is NO one diet that is best for everyone. Some people thrive on a vegetarian diet, others will do poorly. Some people will thrive eating grains, others will not. Some people do well on dairy products, others will not. The main thing that she was adamantly against was processed foods (most of which have flour and/or sugar added) and fried foods. Almost everybody does well on some combination of lean fresh meat, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts and seeds, (and possibly grains), depending upon your metabolism. You have to find what combination works for you. The way I found out what was best for me was by the nutritionist starting me out on a very basic and limited diet of lean meat, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, nuts and seeds. She then added (subtracted) various items and I had blood tests done every 30 days. For me, grains (even whole grains) increased in my blood sugar and c-reactive protien levels (inflammatory response). My nutritionist said this is a common reaction in a large percentage of the population. Consequently, I have almost completely eliminated grains from my diet and I am much healthier. For other people, grains will be fine. I continued to eat meat, and saw my cholesterol and trigyclerides fall by 50% as I eliminated sugars, flour and processed foods. Different people do well on different diets. Find the one that's right for you. It may be vegetarian... and maybe not.
Yes, some people can eat more fat and get away with it. The key is "get away with it", not THRIVE. No one thrives on HIGH FAT! No one. eventually catches you!
