    What you stated is possible. The other possibility is that you don't realize what you are missing...

    'smart money' is such an overrated term in the industry.

    Exactly;
    i've seen money inside + outside bank vaults+ no money has brains.
    Price data + or charts may provide a clue;
    but not a prediction.
    One of the funniest but helpful jokes was Paul Tudor Jones telling jack schwager\ the joke ''Wall Street Knows Something'':D:D

    Just never know when someone will offer an interesting observation which will trigger new idea within yourself. Most on this site are uneducated in trading but occasionally they will write something in a way I never thought about before.

  6. Once you apply Sturgeon's Law - "90% of everything is crap" - this place is no worse than most. Yes, you have to develop a set of filters - block the idiots, ignore the clueless, identify and listen to (but double-check) those who know their business - and keep learning from, and contrasting against, other resources. The point is, you have to put in the effort to get the benefit.

    When I started, and didn't have any good answers - didn't even know what questions to ask - it was really frustrating. But I stuck with it, and the help I received here back then was pivotal in my progress. It may be that I was lucky, or that I listened to the right people, but I know for certain that some of the big leaps I made started here (usually after pounding my skull against the books until I understood what the hell it meant.)

    Taking investment advice from anyone anywhere is extremely questionable to start with - you're not them, you don't have their brain or their experience for figuring out when to double down, get out, or stay in, so what may be a huge winner for them could turn out to be a huge loser for you. So I don't think that's a good measuring stick. But: have you learned anything here that lets you make better decisions about your own trading or investing? To me, that's the real meaningful question.

    There may be better/more useful forums elsewhere; I don't know. All I can say is that I got lots of good out of this one - which is one of the reasons I hang around and try to provide useful advice to newbies. Paying it forward, I call it. Way I feel about it, I've still got quite a ways to go on paying down this debt I've incurred... learning finance, trading, etc. has made quite a large difference in my life, and it's one I truly appreciate.

    Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful reply.

    I said "pearls of wisdom."

    Can I point to something specific, I don't think so.

    I have learned a couple of things, but I don't hang
    out here that often as I think forums are a major
    waste of time.

    Also don't hang out here because most of the men
    seem to have some sort of grudge against ladies
    trading and a couple of them supposedly don't like
    my user name.

    But I digress.

    I read this forum from time to time.

    I usually read way old threads, like the one titled

    "I Have Been Trading Since Before The Internet"

    that is the type of information that interests me.

    And I love Vincent's "stonks" threads the most.

    Thank you for paying it forward, more people
    should be like you.

    That! exactly how a person should view this or any forum. I like being stimulated to think of things I would not otherwise think about, there is some value here in my opinion.

    Let's say you thought everyone here is a loser, you can learn a lot about what not to do then.

    No worries Calhoun's in inverses overnight, UVXY is "surging", he's so right about everything again ... . Just a reminder about who to ignore and perhaps even fade on here.

    I am very surprised you did not see the funnest joke in a while you could have posted...

    "Once you apply Sturgeon's Law - "90% of everything is CARP""

    AHHAHAHA! Oh man, and you've lived on the ocean! Psshaaaw!

    Man, BWS, you gotta' see these little bits and make use of them, it makes it more fun.
