What are you talking about. It peaked in Jun and has been trending down. https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=WhmD
That is y/y, not m/m which is what the market reacted to on Thurs. 0.4%, not 7.7% And PCE Core Powell has said, is what he watches the most anyway:- Next release Dec 1st.
The key is Powell (and FOMC votes), and nothing else. It is the absolute over-powering mechanism that is driving this market. Even corporate earnings are being subsumed by this, because NOBODY since the crash of the financial crisis has seen this environment we are in. Pandemic, wage growth, uber-high inflation, stubbornly-high emplyment and thus high PCE, and a balance sheet by the Fed that is trying to be unwound while we are facing a recession. Nobody knows, but I do. Powell is the king of this market, and what he says makes it go. He's a f'ing Pakled trader.
Like I said and now FED's Waller, who should know more than either of us - I would hope:- + + + But Waller said on Sunday that the inflation print last week was “just one data point” and that other similar readings would be needed to show convincingly that inflation was slowing. Dollar edges up as Fed’s Waller cautions on inflation https://www.cnbc.com/2022/11/14/for...al-reserve-interest-rate-hikes-inflation.html
Not sure what Waller is smoking, but the data I displayed from the St. Louis Fed site. As for the dollar, its been falling for sometime. I'm still short on it. It edged up today slightly, but its wiped out 3 months of gains
$DXY has been falling for a week after going sideways for more than a month. But it seems Waller is not the one smoking stuff.
And so far its been cold. KOLD ran after that post, the nature of these etf ultra's, but it dropped back to $12. Also the nature of these things. $17 now. I dunno Murray. Everyone else is saying this winter is gonna be a bitch. What's today, 12/4?.... The squirrels were out today. (Muttley tries, but she can never catch them lol.). Haven't seen many hawks yet though. I still think we're gonna have a warm winter. %/% No squirrels, ...but any porcupines? Jr asked.
