As for the rest of my trading...I intend at this point to stand aside all week. I am a momentum/trend trader...and there is no momentum or trend right now...just good old fashioned clusterfuck. Not my environment. If anything comes up I will post, however.
Okay, I see what happened. Looks like an "emergency" rate cut. I cut most of my USD/JPY position off for now until after Tuesday. I am sticking hard to the AUD/JPY and GBP/JPY for now though.
Only thing I am doing is buying more of my carry positions if there are any dips after today's Fed speech.. Standard trading today? No. Some people may be able to make money with this erratic activity, but for me to trade the way I normally do would be gambling. Carry trades are doing NICE so far. If they dip I am a buyer again.
Okay, this carry trade idea was cool... But I literally doubled my subaccount by fading the spike today after the Fed meeting. Interest income is great and all, but a windfall profit to the tune of doubling a sub account wins every time. I am still looking to get into this carry situation....but I'm not turning a one day profit like what I made. I'll post charts.
I ASSAULTED THE SPIKES WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE. I called bullshit on them instantly and wanted to cash in. I averaged in like crazy, and then decided to take the windfall profit, as I started to see signs of weakness. Gut feeling I guess. Also, to clarify, this IS NOT my standard method of trading. I do not average in to this degree. This was a special situation. I am discretionary trader and this is an experiment with carry trades that changed into a major profit opportunity. Adapt and overcome. I saw the shot and took it. Had to do it that way.
This is something I have been fooling with to help with carry ideas. I am using the bid rate only (for consistency purposes). It does the trick. Gives me the general idea I'm looking for.
Good work yesterday and thanks for posting the charts! NZD/USD has a good top and is forming a descending triangle at the moment and I look to see it dump through .8000...
