NYSE block trades are a pretty reliable indicator of when a short-term, fast move is done. It usually signals that the specialist has completed the large order. As soon as the block trades, the stock will usually make a quick counter-move. Scalpers should immediately get flat when they see this trade. Of course, the block size must be meaningful for the average volume of a particular stock.
