In no way am I saying it is possible to predict a dramatic drop such as friday, still the pigmen leave tracks and droppings. But, I doubt any of these people who are scratching their heads look at a daily chart every day and weekly charts. How about keeping an eye out for how earnings season kicked off, this time around good news was bad and bad news was bad. (My personal fave is when bad news is good ) MacSums, 10 day p/c's, any number of things to keep track of sentiment. Homework. Add some new tools to the arsenal ($CPC Put/Call Ratio, $NASI Nasdaq McClellan Chart, $VIX Volatility Index, at stockcharts.com or even http://www.vtoreport.com/sentiment/sentiment.htm , and much more etc)
excellent post. you're actually giving away a few of my precious trade secrets. Very generous of you to share this. I would not have. But maybe that's why i'm not liked around here!
I tried to edit the above post, but time expired. What I wanted to say is that I really would like to help the newbies. Anytime a real question is asked on this thread, I do my best to answer it.
Great call bird, Can you help me with a problem ? I shorted the s&p back when you said at 1200 and am still holding so I was unable to short again at 1290. When do you think I will make money on this trade ?
Since I had no such thread entitled sell at 1200, you are in error, making you delusional to say the least. But, I can help you. Here's what you should do. Go to the psych ward at your local hospital, and tell them that you are infatuated/jealous of a cyber-person on an anonymous message board. Ask if electro-shock therapy would help, or if you would need to go the anti-depression route. Please come back here and let us know what happened. Please make sure you let them know how obsessed you are, to the point where you jump on this thread when the S&P moves a few points against me (ie when I said 1281 was a good sale thursday at it finished the day @ 1285). But, of course when things go right, like this entire thread, you also look for fault, even asserting hypothetical examples like this "sell at 1200" garbage. I think that falls under obsessive/compulsive or OCD. Hope this helps.
I sold at 1200 just like you said to do. Did you forget what you posted ? http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53510&perpage=6&pagenumber=83 I thought we would tank just like we said, but so far we rallied 95 points, but at least I regained some of my losses last Friday. When do you think I will be able to get out break even ?
I do not make predictions as a rule. but i do look for resist/support before the day starts. When the pit opens i will naturally have the globex high/low plotted. I see support at 1250 as a major spot for the bulls to hold. Resist is 1275, if that is taken out the bears will be in trouble......Natch!!!!! More eyes will be watching 1250 for a hold point, if we go below that .... But i also say Monday could be a narrow range day since friday was a wider range day. Timing is the difficult part in trading. Good luck, watch the screens, not your opinions...
A brain teaser before a great day of football: This is not a trick question. It is as it reads. No one I know has gotten it right-including me. A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met this guy whom she did not know. She thought this guy was amazing, so much her dream guy she believed him to be just that! She fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and could not find him. A few days later she killed her sister. Question: What is her motive in killing her sister? (Give this some thought before you answer). If no one get the correct answer, I will come back this evening with the correct answer. If you get the correct answer, you are one smart dude!
Correct. Darn, I was hoping to get this answer from a few of the real psycho's on this board. This was not a "brain teaser", it is a "psycho" test. If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous American Psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly. If you didn't answer the question correctly, good for you. I assume you've heard this question, and thus knew the correct answer!
