Man who fired shots before Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha charged

The man who admitted firing gunshots before Kyle Rittenhouse gunned down two people and wounded a third during a protest in Kenosha, Wis., has been charged.

Joshua Ziminski, 35, faces disorderly conduct and use of a dangerous weapon charges stemming from the Aug. 25 shooting during protests in the city over Jacob Blake's serious injuries after being shot in the back by police.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Fox News, Kenosha detectives investigating the fatal shootings reviewed video footage of the night's events and observed Ziminski holding a black handgun. In one video, he is seen walking with his wife near the Ultimate Gas Station before he is captured firing a shot into the air, authorities said.

“Detective Howard observed a muzzle flash emit from the handgun, and heard a gunshot at the same time," the complaint states. "In another video, the defendant is clearly seen at that same location. The defendant is seen walking in the same area, holding his right arm upwards, and firing off one shot from his handgun."

Detectives met with Ziminski and his wife on Oct. 7, where they both admitted he fired a "warning shot" into the air. The pair also said the firearm was stolen from their home several days prior.

Rittenhouse's attorney, Lin Wood, released an 11-minute video last month through his #FightBackFoundation that says shots were fired before and after the teen killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, in the first fatal shooting.

Wood said video footage of the incident proves his client acted in self-defense.

"The evidence is overwhelming," Wood told Fox News on Tuesday. "There's not one iota of evidence that he did anything except defend himself."

Ziminski pleaded not guilty to the charges against him Friday and was released on $1,000, according to records. A court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 4. Calls and messages to his attorney were not returned.

After shooting Rosenbaum, Rittenhouse was seen in a now-viral video running on the street with a military-style rifle. He then shot and killed Anthony Huber, 26 and wounded another person in the arm as he appeared to be attacked while on the ground.

He is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and several other criminal charges. He is being held in Illinois, pending extradition to Wisconsin.

On Tuesday, Illinois prosecutors said they declined to charge the teen with gun offenses after an investigation revealed he never possessed the weapon used in the killings in the state.

Fox say "shots" and at the same time says there was a single shot. Usual propoganda language.

I mentioned previously that we would see the rise of armed militias to guard their homes and businesses. The wealthy and top-end malls will simply hire armed security -- we already see this happening. Here is the latest example.

Manhattan buildings for super rich hire armed guards for possible Election Day unrest

New York’s ultra rich are quietly preparing for civil unrest on Election Day — by hiring armed guards to stand watch over their luxury Manhattan buildings.

At the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle, where the penthouse is going for $62.5 million, managers are deploying off duty cops with “submachine guns” to stand watch, while other wealthy city enclaves are also beefing up protection for residents.

“Everybody is worried about security,” an insider told the Post. “Every top building is adding security. It’s out of control. We hope it won’t be needed, but we will be ready.”

The building is working with the NYPD and Homeland Security, the insider said.

“There will be officers with submachine guns,” the source said. “We’ve always had immense security, but there will be more. We’ll have extra patrols. The entire building can be shut down with one button.”

Many buildings are hiring off duty cops instead of private security companies because they fear a repeat of Denver, where a private guard shot and killed a protestor, said one real estate insider.

Added another luxury building board member said high-end residents have been warned to take precautions by the NYPD.

“The NYPD is advising buildings to get the extra security,” the source said. “They’ve never done this before.”

Other top buildings, such as 220 Central Park South, which is home to hedge funder Ken Griffin’s $238 million condo ,say they are already well guarded but will take extra precautions, like keeping entrances locked at night, and only open to residents.

Other billionaire buildings, like 432 Park Ave., are discussing what extra measures to take this week, a resident board member told the Post.

“Everybody is doing it, adding elevated security to make sure that buildings are safe,” said one real estate insider.

Even “B” level buildings like Manhattan House, at 200 E. 66th St., on the Upper East Side are hiring extra security.

In a letter that went out to residents this week, the building management wrote they have plans in place for an extended period of time “to anticipate and mitigate the possibility of civil unrest and violence following the upcoming presidential election.”

The measures include hiring off duty police to protect against “violence” and “property damage.”

One person who received the letter told the Post: “I was sick to my stomach when I read that.”

Security will begin on Election Day but the extra security measures are expected to continue in the days and even weeks that follow, a source said.

“We hope the precautions won’t be needed but we will be ready,” the letter stated.

Greenwich Lane, a luxury residential complex where rock royal Jon Bon Jovi lives in a $19 million unit, will also be taking extra precautions.

Greenwich Lane already had extra guards for a brief time in October, after a food delivery worker was held up at gunpoint outside the building.

“We’re warned not to leave anything in our cars. People are hungry, unemployed and desperate,” a resident said.

It’s even worse in Florida, where one New Yorker, who owns a luxury condo in Naples, said her building has hired two ex-marine “snipers” to stand on guard, with guns, on the roof, on Election Day and after.

She is one of many New York residents who plan on being out of Manhattan on Election Day.

“It’s a really sad state of affairs,” she said.

  4. Officers with "sub machineguns" are toothless tigers if they have orders not to shoot. Until the mob starts suffering mass casualties they will continue to riot.

Many armed guards from major firms are former military. Nothing would please them more than for rioters to break into their buildings which will allow them to take action within the law. Keep in mind armed security tends to escalate only to one level - deadly force.

The reality is that highly visible armed security just inside the door will likely keep rioters and looters away -- which is what wealthy residents of these buildings are hoping.

  6. You telling me private security will open up on looters? Not a chance in hell. It ain't Madmax world yet and that means you have to defend yourself in court. Unless the lives of the security personnel are under direct threat they cannot shoot someone. The police are the ones who have to make the first move of using deadly force during riots and they're under orders to be spectators. Until that changes it's a very dicey situation for everyone else.

Keep in mind as soon as the looters break into the building in Castle Law states the armed security has the same rights as the home or business owner.

It's not like armed security will be out on the streets during riots -- they will stay on private property. Their role is not to get involved with what is happening off-property.

  8. Castle Law or not, the shit will hit the fan bigtime if private security starts shooting people. I'm not saying they shouldn't, but this will escalate bigtime if they do. Just not sure the business owners hiring the security are ready for that

The reality is that rioters seeing armed security at a business or residence are likely to head somewhere where the looting and destruction is much easier.

Note that I am differentiating armed security from right-wing militias The right-wing militia people will be out on the street and are many times intent on starting a conflict. We will continue to see the ANTIFA versus right-wing militia conflicts (and idiocy) play out in the streets.

Most armed security employees simply want to get home to their families later -- but they will take action within the law to use deadly force to defend the property they were hired to protect. They are not just going to stand-by and not use force when looters crash the building.

If ANTIFA and other want to escalate their violence after the election then you are right -- the shiat is really going to hit the fan when they run into paid armed security. But I bet they don't attempt to cause trouble with them a second time -- once the lesson is applied the first time.

Business owners are increasing hiring armed security. In Raleigh after downtown business owners were looted and burned out a second time -- their local business association started urging them to hire private armed security and provided a list of reputable firms who provide these services. I will note that not a single business that hired armed security in downtown Raleigh has been looted or burned by our local ANTIFA groups (e.g. BURN Durham, etc.) since they have been present. In fact ANTIFA now seems to be scared of going anywhere near these businesses -- and confines their activities to the Wake courthouse and government building area.

  10. Not if they're not being shot. They're looting and rioting right in front of armed police. Until those weapons get used and bodies start dropping they have no reason to stop the violence. The police need to do their jobs and if that means disobeying orders from radical left mayors and Governors then that's what it means.
