We are seeing example after example of citizens taking up arms and providing their own security since the defunded police are not responding to calls. Of course the reaction of the press and city would be completely different if a group of local white business owners armed themselves and patrolled the streets. Here's just the latest... Minneapolis commends group of Black men patrolling streets, protecting businesses after death of George Floyd 'It's important to have men from the community step up for the community' https://www.foxnews.com/us/minneapolis-black-men-patrolling-protecting-george-floyd Minneapolis is commending the Minnesota Freedom Fighters, who are Black men with AR-15s and Glocks and wearing tactical vests and bandannas who provided extra community security in the wake of protests after the death of George Floyd, according to reports. “It's important to have men from the community step up for the community,” Sasha Cotton, director of the city's Office of Violence Prevention, told the Los Angeles Times. “It's their right to be out on the streets and it's commendable. There are black residents who in the early days of the unrest felt vulnerable ... and still do.” One of the men helping out is Robert Sayers, a fire inspector for the city of Minneapolis. He said seeing violence, fire and looting was his call to action. “We could not and still cannot allow destruction in the city,” the 52-year-old said. “This is about filling the gap we see between police and community... It's really about harm reduction.” Floyd, a Black man who was handcuffed, died May 25 after Derek Chauvin, a White officer, pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck even as Floyd said he couldn’t breathe. Floyd’s death was captured in widely seen bystander video that set off protests around the world. Jamil Jackson, the group's commander, told MPR News about the group’s backstory. “We're all professional men in our day jobs. We're fathers and husbands, we're uncles, we're mentors. But at night and during times of need, we're out doing what we need to do for our community. It's not about putting a gun in anyone's face. It's providing a layer of protection that our presence brings.” He’s grateful he found other men -- about two dozen black men -- to man up with him and be of service. “This is about us taking a stance to patrol and protect our community. This is something that was asked of us during a time of unrest, and we saw that there was a need,” Jackson added. “That sparked some purpose in some of these men's lives to understand that their value was not just in protecting buildings that don't belong to us, but also in protecting the people that actually live in the community.” Rev. Tim Christopher, whose church is in north Minneapolis, said the image of the Minnesota Freedom Fighters gave him relief. “It's been a breath of fresh air,” he said. “Seeing an armed black man — knowing he is here to take care of the community, nurture the community — is a blessing.”
A nothing burger. Has not changed the electorate's opinion of POSOTUS or Biden one bit. Because it is not part of their lived experience. Because it's shrill campaign nonsense.
I have been saying this for months. People are sick and tired of all the lawlessness and violence mainly caused by BLM. Gun sales are at all time highs and that speaks volimes. The fact that it took so long for Biden to call anyone out on the rioting and Kamala Harris has remained quiet will undoubtedly hurt them. By the way, many hard working blacks are also tired of this.
Looks like Rittenhouse has a top-end legal team... "Rittenhouse’s legal team includes Los Angeles-based Pierce and Lin Wood, a defamation lawyer who represented falsely accused security guard Richard Jewell in the 1996 Olympic Park bombing case in Atlanta and is a lawyer for Sean Hannity, the Fox News host with close ties to President Donald Trump." Teen charged in Kenosha shootings fights extradition https://www.wral.com/hearing-seeks-to-move-protest-shooter-for-trial-in-wisconsin/19304033/ A 17-year-old in Illinois accused of killing two protesters days after Jacob Blake was shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Friday fought his return to Wisconsin to face homicide charges that could put him in prison for life. Kyle Rittenhouse surrendered to police in his home in Antioch, Illinois, a day after prosecutors say he shot and killed two protesters and wounded a third on the streets of Kenosha on Aug. 25. His attorneys have said Rittenhouse acted in self-defense and have portrayed him as a courageous patriot who was exercising his right to bear arms during unrest over the police shooting of Blake, who is Black. Rittenhouse attorney John Pierce said during a hearing Friday that he intends to fight extradition. Judge Paul Novak gave the defense 14 days to review papers and file pleadings ahead of an Oct. 9 hearing. “We intend to challenge extradition by writ of habeas corpus,” Pierce said He didn’t provide further details at the hearing about the basis for the challenge. The delay in returning Rittenhouse to Wisconsin is the second in the case. Mike Nerheim, the Lake County state’s attorney, said after the hearing that Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker had signed a warrant to return Rittenhouse to Wisconsin after a request was made by Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, a fellow Democrat. Rittenhouse’s attorney asked for a chance to review the warrant, which Nerheim said he had received Friday morning. Nerheim said he didn’t know on what basis Rittenhouse would challenge extradition. “We’re ready to proceed,” he said. Rittenhouse attended the hearing via a video feed and did not speak other than to say, “Good morning your honor” to the judge. He wore a blue face mask and a black sweatshirt. Pierce also requested that he be allowed to bring a laptop into the juvenile detention facility in Vernon Hills where Rittenhouse is being held, despite a ban on electronic equipment, so they could review video evidence together from the night of the shootings. The judge said he would consider it. Rittenhouse, who is white, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the killing of two white protesters and attempted intentional homicide in the wounding of a third. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of underage firearm possession for wielding a semi-automatic rifle. If convicted of first-degree homicide, Rittenhouse faces a mandatory life in prison sentence. To some, Rittenhouse is a domestic terrorist whose very presence with a rifle incited the protesters in Kenosha. To others — who have become frustrated with demonstrations and unrest across the country — he’s seen as a hero who took up arms to protect businesses, including some that were damaged during unrest the previous two nights. According to prosecutors and court documents, Rittenhouse shot and killed 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum, of Kenosha, after Rosenbaum threw a plastic bag at Rittenhouse, missing him, and tried to wrestle his rifle away. While trying to get away in the immediate aftermath, Rittenhouse was captured on cellphone video saying “I just killed somebody.” According to the complaint filed by prosecutors, someone in the crowd said, “Beat him up!” and another yelled, “Get him! Get that dude!” Video shows that Rittenhouse tripped in the street. As he was on the ground, 26-year-old Anthony Huber, of Silver Lake, hit him with a skateboard and tried to take his rifle away. Rittenhouse opened fire, killing Huber and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz, of West Allis, who was holding a handgun. Rittenhouse’s extradition might not be an issue at all if he had been arrested in Kenosha the night of the shootings. Cellphone video that captured some of the action shows Rittenhouse afterward walking slowly toward a police vehicle with his hands up, only to be waved through by police. He returned to his Illinois home and turned himself in soon after. Police later blamed the chaotic conditions for not arresting Rittenhouse at the scene. The killings happened two days after a white Kenosha police officer shot Blake seven times in the back, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and sparking outrage after video of the shooting was posted online. A Wisconsin Department of Justice investigation into that shooting is ongoing. The three responding officers are on administrative leave. Rittenhouse’s legal team includes Los Angeles-based Pierce and Lin Wood, a defamation lawyer who represented falsely accused security guard Richard Jewell in the 1996 Olympic Park bombing case in Atlanta and is a lawyer for Sean Hannity, the Fox News host with close ties to President Donald Trump. Pierce has described Rittenhouse not as a vigilante, but as a model citizen who was cleaning graffiti from a vandalized high school before he received word from a business owner seeking help to protect what was left of his property after rioters burned two of his other buildings. Pierce and Wood did not respond to messages ahead of Friday's hearing.
Yeah just him beating on a girl won't wash off. Richard Jewell's lawyer is appropriate for a delusional fantasist child with no father mentoring him.
So it's now clear cops let him flee the state so he wouldn't be tried there. And they say whitey doesn't have privilege
Interesting that Rittenhouse's defense team is "turning a fairly straightforward self-defense case into a sweeping political argument" on a nationwide basis. "Lawyers for Kyle Rittenhouse have launched a social media campaign depicting the Kenosha, Wisconsin, shooter as not just a scared teenager acting in self-defense, but an American hero akin to the Minutemen who fought at the nation’s founding." Kenosha shooter’s defense portrays him as ‘American patriot’ https://www.cbs17.com/news/national-news/kenosha-shooters-defense-portrays-him-as-american-patriot/ Lawyers for Kyle Rittenhouse have launched a social media campaign depicting the Kenosha, Wisconsin, shooter as not just a scared teenager acting in self-defense, but an American hero akin to the Minutemen who fought at the nation’s founding. The dramatic rhetoric has helped raise nearly $2 million to pay for the 17-year-old’s defense against homicide charges in the killing of two protesters. But some legal experts say there are risks in turning a fairly straightforward self-defense case into a sweeping political argument that could play into a stereotype that he is a gun-crazed militia member out to start a revolution. Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old police admirer from nearby Antioch, Illinois, has been charged with gunning down protesters Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and wounding a third man, Gage Grosskreutz, on the night of Aug. 25. The protest was over the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
