  1. No surprise that it was started by a lefty.

I don't know if Gabfly's comment was to me, but in case it was, both Trader666 and Max post articles and stuff that I find interesting. I don't always agree with it, but it's interesting stuff. I would agree that pspr's commentary usually comes off somewhat uninformed (he cuts and pastes a lot), but he does post current events that I've not seen and also find interesting. Lucrum is indeed insulting, but has never been so to me, so why put him on ignore?

If I put everyone who was consistently insulting to another person (not me) on this website on ignore, I think I would reach the limits of the ignore engine.

Gabfly, on the other hand, has not made one worthwhile post in three usernames that I can recall. There's probably one or two out there, but I don't remember it.

At the end of the day, it is the user's choice who he or she wishes to put on ignore. Whine all you want, makes no matter (because the user probably can't hear you anyway).

I like to point fingers when I see bullshit. This is me pointing a finger:

You see, it's hard for me to show respect for people who lack intellectual integrity. We can disagree, sure. But when you start making shit up, or present stupid, arrogant arguments, then all bets are off.

  6. Welcome to P&R, a subsidiary of ET:D

We have our own rules down here, you will not be banned unless you do something really stupid, like post child porn, or stalk your adversaries in the trading forums.

The ignore feature here is seen as the coward's way. People are here to have good convo, as well as knuckle drag. Don't take it personally and you will be fine.

I have no one on my ignore list. Since the subject of ignoring was brought up, let’s take a look at it.

When it comes to progressives and their techniques for debating, it should be obvious to most that they often ignore the elements of the argument they can’t possibly win. Not a bad strategy, really. They then claim to have won the argument, even though they never addressed the actual issues brought up. Then they slap themselves on the back, often bragging about their superior intelligence, not realizing that they might actually appear fools to those who don’t subscribe to their ideology, including conservatives, libertarians and others who are equally or more educated.

When progressives get trapped in their own bullshit, they often resort to insulting, name calling, or just ignoring the discussion from that point and moving on to the next argument they think they can win. Don't get me wrong, they win some when the facts are on their side, but the arrogance they obtained through their education blinds them to the arguments they lose. When they do win a debate with facts, the same arrogance they display, often accompanied by insults, is extremely distasteful leaving no desire to be civil with them, at least speaking for myself. But why put them on ignore? No one is forcing me to debate them, or read their posts. I don't need to have an automatic ignore function activated to achieve that result.

The problem with debating progressives is that they don't believe they can possibly lose because they are too fucking smart. This is the same mindset I despise when it appears in government. It’s the mindset that leads government to believe they can run my life better than I can, which explains why I hate progressives. There is no humility in their intelligence, only arrogance and condescension. The conservatives I know who are highly educated, and several in my immediate family are, never brag about their education, or IQ’s for that matter. They have, however, told me how they thought it was funny that so many of their fellow students bought into the same liberal bullshit that they laughed at behind their professors' backs. I think about that often when I read the discussions in this forum. Using ignore would rob me of that daily dose of comic relief.

I didn't know that Max E. Pad and Trader666 were progressives.

I'd be lying if I told you that you weren't pretty funny from time to time. I actually wouldn't mind having discussions with you either, if you were capable of leaving the arrogance I spoke about behind.
