Very interesting interview with Professor David Lewis Williams . Says some very thought provoking things. Especially terming the thought that religion must have had an evolutionary benefit as post hoc. And that the establishment of faith based schools as desiring irrational schools.
"God belief is certainty without fact." ok so Totality belief is certainty without fact Science is fact without certainty. ...same difference.
No, not same difference at all... Not the same at all actually... Certainty of Totality, belief that Totality is God...not a God, nor gods, nor non gods, nor non God...but God. You might be able to tolerate the word Totality, but you wretch at the word God. That's because of your own concept and definition of the word God, not my definition...
...so you are certain of something called Totality, which is God, but you are not certain of God . Leaves you merely certain of belief. ......seems the only one wretching about the word God is you. You still have that conclusion without fact which makes you very angry and agressive for some reason. jus' sayin'
How are you certain of totality considering that totality "transcends" your ability to perceive it with a mind that can only sense things in the finite due to the constraints of spacetime? In the end, you not only have faith that Totality is God, but you also have faith that you can experience, perceive, and recognize totality. If you disagree, you merely have to posit a methodology that allows others to experience, perceive, and recognize Totality as distinguishable from anything else.
Descartes logic... If there is only actually nothing, then there is a totality of nothing. If there is only actually somethings, then there is a totality of somethings. If there is only actually everything, then there is a totality of everything. If there is combination of nothing, and somethings, and everything, then there is a totality of something, nothing and everything combined.
Because there will always be charismatic types who have this need to be leaders ...at any expense; even truth. It fufills them.
Conceptualizing totality is not the same thing as experiencing, perceiving, and recognizing Totality as indistinguishable from anything else. Defining it is perfectly reasonable. Now, let's go out and test for it. Moreover, if we think we've found it, now we will need to falsify it just to be sure.
