now you are pulling in stuff unrelated to what we have been talking about... sorry, your IQ is too low, not debate worthy, you can't even stay on topic.... off to my ignore pile you go.
The problem with the brain-washed crowd, is that independent thinking is not a quality that very few have. Since this is a trading forum, I can twist this slightly towards that direction. Independent thinking is of the utmost importance in trading. With a broad stroke, it is probably safer to take every piece of financial news on the opposite side of the face value. Reason being - the function of the media is not to inform the public, but to fool and manipulate the public, for profit, for political gains, whatever. I have laid out my trading method... if you practice for a period of time you will feel how great it is to see everything crystal clear, when you can decipher the true meaning of these news stories.... then it will be fairly easy to see thru other kinds of BS like global warming.
And hyperbole aside - that’s the point. As was detailed in the Der Spiegel article, the ‘low hanging fruit’ has been plucked and now the technical limitations and public opposition have made further inroads for solar and wind more narrow and problematic. You can capture only so many light photons per square foot of panel during the course of a day. There’s a finite amount of wind energy to capture per square foot of turbine blade. Now the difficult decisions have to be made that will be adamantly opposed by the public in the areas where more of these turbines and panels are to be built. It’s getting crowded. Wind and Solar require a great deal of space and equipment to make modest levels of electricity - the physics behind it are incredibly inefficient. Land for agricultural purposes, wildlife habitat, and forcible imminent domain land seizures from private citizens are going to come into play at a certain threshold- and it sounds like Germany might be there. In fact, Germany plans to REOPEN a coal mine for power generating fuel. It’s a foolish delusion to think that wind and solar and money alone will fulfill a sophisticated modern industrialized country’s power generation needs. It was never going to be that easy because there is no getting around the intractable physical limitations of being able to capture sufficient quantities of light photons or to convert sufficient joules of wind energy.
In the interest of bringing the level of the above post up to nearly that of chit chat, it's necessary to point out that CO2 is not 2%; its 50 times less than that, at 0.04%, according to recent measurements. It varies widely from one place to another near the Earth's surface. The 0.04% figure is thus a mean value, or should be, unless one of the climate alarmists, like that screwball Hansen, cheated by reporting only the figure measured next to an active volcano . Also it won't hurt to mention that CO2 is not "25 meters thick," as though it was the icing on a giant, round birthday cake; rather it is distributed in roughly the same mean percentage (better expressed as 405 ppm) throughout the atmosphere. The gases in the atmosphere comprise a gas solution, i.e., they remain mixed, in the same proportions despite their differences in molecular weight, due to thermal, or kT, energy. The relative proportions of atmospheric gases are the same more or less throughout the atmosphere. Is the atmosphere only "5000 meters thick"? If you say so, however there is still "atmosphere" well above 16,250 feet.
While I fully agree with the general sentiment here, I can't entirely subscribe to the quote below, as I think fooling and manipulating the public is only an inadvertent secondary result of the medias primary interest, which could correctly be said to be "profit," as you noted. the function of the media is not to inform the public, but to fool and manipulate the public, for profit, for political gains, whatever. Although it is certainly true that others outside the media will try to use the media to their own ends, the main interest of the media itself has to be audience share, which of course leads to "profits." And of course embellishment may serve that end better than unvarnished truth. (There are at least two true experts, one of them dead, on this topic. One would be William Randolph Hearst, the other would be Rupert Murdoch; neither of these men can be said to have had much interest in truth.
just to clarify - 2%: human co2 is 2% of all co2... 98% is natural.. from bacteria, algae, whatever; - 25 and 5000 meters.. the general public cannot visualize ppms... so it's a 'dumb' down... yes the atmosphere is 10 miles thick, but majority is in the first 3miles, or 5000 meters... then to further help to visualize, do the ppm calculation and imagine all the co2 can be gathered together, and that would be about 25 meters thick, at sea level. the general population has no clue... and you can do an experiment just ask the above questions to anybody who believes the co2 hoax.. or doesn't believes it.... doesn't matter, nobody will give you the correct answer of 2-inch thick man made co2.... the answer will be 20 meters to 2 miles... you will be amazed lol. and I have had this 2-inch discussion with others on ET before.... once they realize they have been fooled, they just start pouring muddy water back.. because at that point there is no valid come back.... they know the truth is not on their side, and then all of a sudden it's about nursing the fractured ego... an ego so hurt realizing that for their entire life they have been fooled, that Al Gore is flying private jet and living in a mansion with 20 bedrooms, while the brain washed fools are trying not to use a plastic straw lol. Just listen to the dead silence.. there is no come-back to the 2-inch argument.... anyone with half a brain now realize they have been fooled.... what happens next depends, if that person is too proud to admit, and will keep living that lie till his last breath.... or some may wake up... actually the waking-up has been a general trend.. globally only about 35% still think global warming is a major concern, compared to close to 50% years ago. Sign - this is why I usually try not to dwell too much on this type of thing... the human race, in general, is too stupid and too easily manipulated.... just look thru out history, all the wars, movements, etc etc... everything looks like a combo of a comedy and a tragedy, where an elite few push the mass over the cliff, to dye in a war, for their country, for their religion.. or to buy e cars and put solar panels on their roof.... of course these things far less cruel than becoming cannon fodder in a war... but still.. manipulation is manipulation. about the media - yes audience share is a big one... but the bottom line is still the money right? audience share is one part, but do we know what other deals are cut under the table? what payoffs are done for pushing stories to fool the public? to buy at the market top and to sell at the bottom? happens all the time, just look at the general sentiment of articles published around market tops or bottoms... journalists are not financial experts, they have no clue... they write whatever my pro boys tell them... the audience share will be there, mostly depending on how many click baits they put on the sites.... the content really doesn't matter that much to the share... but it does matter for the other purposes - the manipulation.. and last but not least.. if anyone still has an open mind... look up 'grand solar minimum'... the next concern is actually global cooling... that's when empires fall, productivity collapse.. that's when shit can really hit the fan.... the solar activity has been thru a unusual quiet period, but we just don't have enough knowledge to tell what it will actually bring... in the meantime the fools are still trying to decide paper or plastic. and rest assured, the like of Al Gore... of course they know it's a lie, they have to know the ins and outs to push a scam like this.. they certainly know that warming has stopped, and now the terminology has been changed to 'climate change'... all bases are covered, regardless if the temperature goes up or down.. record heat or record snow fall... climate change.. pay your carbon tax right now. lol. AOC may not know, the girl is simply too dumb. lol.
I like that you don't hedge when you write. Your outspoken. Nothing held back. I like that. And I do agree with much. I happen to not agree with you regarding AOC's intelligence. She seems to me to be uncommonly intelligent. But we shall see. She is also relatively young and inexperienced, they way we all were once.
I may have underestimated AOC... she may lack some knowledge in certain areas... but she shouldn't be too dumb... her ability to manipulate her district and now the younger generation is quite remarkable.
* why foolish delusion, it's already above 40%, you can speak of a delusion when something is non-existant or stumbling at the 2% level. We talk about nearly half of the entire energy need that will be covered by year end. That is not delusional but absolutely breathtaking. You sound like a guy complaining about first world problems on an airplane when we should all be amazed at how fucking cool it is that we can sit in a man made bird and cruise around the world. The next 40-50% are not limited by any insurmountable technology but mostly by funding. * I don't know where you live, perhaps you are in Germany? I have been to Germany past October and I saw the occasional wind turbine Park but that was it, if you seriously think that this is a space issue then you should perhaps venture to Germany to take a look yourself. * if you believe a few articles and listen to a tiny minority of people who oppose the complete exit from traditional energy sources then you should perhaps again spend a week in Germany and listen to people. A huge majority of people loves nothing more than living the green way, too much for my taste actually. Opposition to renewables? Sure but you do need to search for those people they are not easily found. And I should perhaps point out that asking farmers what they feel or want has never been a good way to gauge opinions for the future of a country, particularly a country that is inhabited mostly by city and town dwellers. I am not saying to ignore farmers but to keep in perspective that farmers represent a minority in Germany. And hey, let's look at the big picture. Even if in 20 years a new technology emerges that can cheaply and efficiently and safely replace all other energy sources then that is great, at least Germany will by then have shown that a safe transition can be achieved with a strong will and government that cares for the wellbeing of the people in the long term. The worst is doing nothing and constantly using excuses. I think this is why Germany is such a powerful and advanced country, because a large majority constantly focuses on problems and the solutions to problems. I admire Germany and Japan a lot more than the US. Both former nations have been decimated and are very tiny in usable space compared to the US and yet the quality of products and sheer number they pump out is absolutely amazing in comparison to what comes out of the US, Russia, or China, all nations with a multiple of people and space Germany and Japan has. Guess why this is possible? See any difference between Germany/Japan and the rest of the world? Those people take care of shit, they look after each other, it's not like each for his own benefit. They don't dump shit everywhere. That is why efficient living at a high standard there is possible. Take a look in comparison at the many shit hole towns in the US, and I am not at all talking about Detroit. Take away national parks, preserves, forests, some glizzy cities and you feel you are stuck in a horror movie of the 60s. Car broke down, hey let's just dump it in that corn field. Garbage and shit lying around everywhere. On another note, a huge problem in our political culture at the moment I see with people that demand from their government to be asked to participate in every single decision making process. Democracy does not mean that every single Joe sits at the table for every decision but that we all elect officials to represent our grand goals and hold them accountable. We get asked every 4 years to choose and that is perfectly fine. What is tiring is living among people who just can't give a fuck. They want the cheapest energy possible, not pay for health insurance because they think they can take care of their own health, they don't want to pay taxes, they want all the free shit. Those same fucks don't realize that when they fall ill they cost me and you and everybody else a multiple of what it would have cost had they been insured. Same with the environment, I rather pay a few percent of my income than taking the risk of calamity even if this calamity is not well defined nor the probabilities set in stone. I rather die on my deathbed thinking I paid for insurance that never paid out than suffocate to death because I was too fucking ignorant. Self-serving people and those who constantly think about money and how they can avoid to participate in a common good are a pest and to be avoided at all cost.
