  1. Cutten

Why can't black kids try to emulate Trump or Gates? Role models aren't restricted to people the same race as you. Besides, it's not as if the only successful black people are rappers and NBA players.

  6. The US education is a joke. It just not working. We need to get ride of the department of education, a useless entity. Get rid of the teach union. I went through too many "teachers" that slept during class. We need to increase the teacher's salary. That is one of the hardest jobs in the world. How many of us rather go to work than dealing with children? And yet, teacher get shitty pay. Please don't give me the crap they get summer off, and if they do this and that, they will have equivalent of that much.

  7. They need one class on negotiating skills.

One class on life coaching, something like the secret or tony robbins.

One class on money. You'll notice a dollar bill doesn't come with instruction.

Grant writing should begin in pre K.

Navigating the bureaucracy will be mandatory spec ed.

This course will include. How to stand in line. Proper way to hold hand out. Finding "L" in fone book for attorney for social injustice.

  8. This is hardly the kind of attitude the black community needs in order to pull up its socks.

The "woe is me" story is really getting old. Here in New York City you see immigrants coming off the proverbial boat everyday from China and Vietnam. These poor sods are loaded up with debt, can't speak a word of English and go straight into the kitchens of chinatown to cook take-out for minimum wage before retiring every night to 8 to a room dorms.

After years of scrimping and saving their kids go to Styversant and then to Princeton or Yale, and then to Wall Street. From moo goo gai pan to collateralized credit in two generations.

They are the ones who are running circles around the black community who have not seen much progress despite possessing considerable starting advantages. Two underclass minorities, two very different outcomes in two generations.

It's probably not considered very polite to point these facts out, but life doesn't owe anyone anything - we have to all go out there and make the best of things by applying ourselves and having a good work ethic.

I think Cosby has got the right solution for long term improvement in the black community.

But what do I know ... after all no one who isn't black can know.

  9. On the way to work last Tuesday the generic looks of dislike, hatred and contempt I received on the way to work were like body blows ... good thing I know how to keep my focus.

I didn't make my post to "lift black people up", that is something which will need to happen both individually and collectively as time moves on.

I made it to let you people know you don't know anything ... and from your post, obviously you don't.

I heard this slogan from the obese grief support group, except for the "I know how to keep my focus" which would be food (anger perhaps, in your case) which is unspoken but not uneaten. So you haven't cornered the market on living with generic dislike, etc.

Now regarding the "This whole thread is complete and total bullshit." comment. I had to stop and wonder about this and I do understand your point. It would be helpful for non black society to be more sensitive to black people without the back handed behind your back advice regarding education, work two jobs, yada yada.
