The real reason Trump is imposing tariffs on Canada

  1. I dont owe ET any standard of decorum unfortunately so nothing is beneath me...

I only attack people who put politicians on pedastals... I do not see anyone really touting biden and kamala as anything great, only trumptards fooled by the bullshit so yeah... they are a frequent target.

trump exempting USMCA goes agaisnt his policy to put tariffs on Mexico and Canada to "punish" them... the fact that this is not clear means you need to go back and study the issue.

trump: we will put tariffs on goods from Mexico!

trump: we ewill exempt products under USMCA which include goods from Mexico which are tariff exempt as per the agreement anyway...

This is what you worship? Sorry but that is beneath you.

So over 80% of the imported products from Canada and Mexico are covered under USMCA. So basically over 80% of the products from Canada and Mexico will be exempt from Trump's new tariffs. Of course, Trump will probably change direction on this tomorrow; everyday it is some new whiplash.

Trump says he is protecting US auto interests from being punished by the Trump tariffs he himself created mere weeks ago. So he's again declaring himself as the hero to fix his own mistakes. And what trade policy was in place when he got elected ? His trade pact.

Trump, being a dinosaur, remembering what he learned in school 65 million years ago, believes tariffs will rebuild America because they helped build it in the first place. What he doesn't get is that the continent is vastly different. Tariffs provided the income where there was no other, and a protective shield, while the untapped resources of the land were converted into capital. But the resources are largely gone, what's left is insufficient to maintain "the American way of life", so we have to get them from abroad. Trump's tariffs punish resource owners abroad, by increasing the price internally and suppressing sales, at the same time we want to buy them as cheaply as possible.

Nothing can be managed fairly and to broad support if Americans do not begin to understand and accept the harsh reality of ecological overshoot.

Trump did the same with other concerns by Americans such as Trump initiated the BAN on TikTok...approved in a bipartisan vote by Congress because Trump said that TikTok was a threat or could become a threat to America's National Security.

He then wins re-election and TikTok takes it to the Supreme Court where they agree with the BAN because of national security interest as framed by Trump.

Trump then re-enters the U.S. elections and wins. He then becomes the savior of TikTok by giving them 30 days to find an American buyer but now seems to be trying to find other ways to keep TikTok in America if an American buyer doesn't show up...making Trump look like he cares for what America (the hero of America) want when he initially declared TikTok a threat to the United States National Security....

Yesterday he said he'll most likely extend again the BAN delay. :D :p

Interesting spot for Trump. On the one hand he wants the support of the people who love tiktok, but on the other hand tiktok is hated by our own oligarchs, whom he also needs.
