The radical moral implications of luck in human life

There have been studies on how people who take responsibility of their actions and take charge of their lives will excel much more in life, particularly in cases of academics and professional life. Possessing a victim mentality can create quite the opposite. Having a mindset that the predicament one is in can cause a mentality that things are owed to them, rather than working to achieve a goal. Without having a goal to work hard to achieve, there will be less motivation and initiative which will cause a lack in productivity. A focus in large of victimhood could lead to deteriorating well-beings, which could also lead to potential violent behavior. There is also a lack of personal responsibility and accountability in the mindset.

Since victim mentality is primarily a reaction to one's experiences and not inborn, it is possible to change it which may be provoked by an extraordinary situation or crisis. Since recognizing naive and condescending suggestions is a general characteristic feature of victim mentality, a person with victim mentality will generally not respond positively to attempts by another person to wrongly identify the problem and its solution. For this reason, the condition may become chronic

Your problem is that you have decided that everyone who is poor is that way because they have this "victim mentality". You've convinced yourself that the only difference between you and your "insane work ethic" and poor folks is that they're all suffering from "victim mentality". That is dead wrong, although again I guess it makes it easier for you to be callous and feel superior to the millions of hard working poor people with a great work ethic who are just stuck in a shitty situation, so there's that.

You gotta decide to leave your own mark in life and find a way to do it...regardless.

Again, you seem to assume this is particular to US ghettos. I had multiple incidents of people wanting to liberate me from my belongings. One particular incident of four deadbeat heroin junkies with a rusty knife is a particularly vivid memory.

We live in an era of computers, in the US you can get an old computer for free. You stay inside and minimize interacting with the thugs outside. You give yourself an education. Funny how in the rest of the world this is a common route to improve your life, in US ghettos it almost never happens. They hang around on the street and talk about how dangerous it is, why are you putting yourself at risk?

The more negative your surroundings, the more desperate you are to improve your life and get out of there. The people in the videos are clearly revelling in it, rap music is just romanticizing the ghettos, proud poetry about misery. You get no medals for suffering in a shithole.

That said. My initial point was the same as yours, people have dramatically different starts in life.

Getting out of ANY bad situation starts with a paradigm shift in the mind and beliefs and a setting of priorities as to what you are going to spend your energy and resources on (regardless of their amount available). To blame others for one's position in life helps no one and especially the one who finds himself in a bad situation.

Like trading. No one can be blamed for one’s losses. One is watching the screen himself..the institutions aren't watching your little position. It is peanuts to them.

Get busy finding what will work for you. Blame no other person. Take responsibility for your own trading.

Oh please, now you have to do shitty physical jobs to have a work ethic? I've done shitty, poor paying jobs in my early youth for a limited time. It was enough to make it clear for me that I don't want to do that kind of work forever, not because it was hard but because it was monotone.
It wasn't that bad, the lack of stress in physical jobs is a major boon. I don't mind doing menial jobs. Trading in isolation and suffering major drawdowns is much harder, even if the money is better.

Life is what it is. Take responsibility to make any changes you desire. Complaining about this and that and that and this never solves anything.

I prefer not to say but it does not matter which particular country I'm talking about - let's just say post communism Soviet Union countries in the 90s were harsh. Seeing your street every week on the local equivalent of "Cops" is interesting though but I'm happy guns were not as common as in the US.
