How do we know these are not doctored accounts or accounts funded by hedge fund to pump their positions? It's easy for a fund to show a 1M or 2M account to get WSB excited
We can’t know that anything on WSB is real, but everyone knows that AMC and GME went up and tons of people profited from it. It doesn’t matter when some posts are fake or manipulated when they don’t affect your trading and you’re just watching them for fun, just like watching memes and TikTok for fun. If you worry about which videos on TikTok are posted by real magicians, then you have more problems than people posting them
Tradability has no importance here. Magicians and video editors who watch magic tricks may also apply those in their career, but it’s their choice what to watch and ignore stuff that isn’t important to them, or to ignore stuff they think is fake in some way. I don’t know what real magicians are either, because the point was that such things aren’t important and worrying about this is nonsensical. A real magician may be a true mage, an alien, a guy doing magic tricks professionally, etc - vs video editors, for example. One group can choose to ignore another, and not worry about how their career will be affected by some posts on the net.
Btw, if you think those posts are made by hedge funds then you can act accordingly and use that info in your trading, and game the system. Others can choose to take them at face value and use them to their advantage, possibly copying those trades, as if they were posted by real traders. Others can ignore them completely. Let the smartest win, and hopefully you’re the one
No, I don't trade AMC. Just when I look at AMC chart, I find it is easy to find good entry and exit points. I only trade futures and forex.
A 700k+ drawdown from an account size of less than $3M? Over 23% loss in one trade. Those guys will blow up soon if they haven't already.
