Man arrested in Kannapolis with van full of guns and explosives, researched killing Joe Biden

By Nick Ochsner | October 22, 2020 at 3:34 PM EDT - Updated October 22 at 4:36 PM
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WBTV) – A man was arrested in Kannapolis with a van full of guns and explosives with plans to carry out an act of terrorism, including trying to assassinate Joe Biden.

An order filed in federal court earlier this month outlines the plans by a man identified as Alexander Hillel Treisman, who also used the alias Alexander S. Theiss.

    DOCUMENT: Read the court order

In the order, a federal magistrate judge outlined the reasons why Treisman should continue to be held in jail on child pornography charges.

TRUMP’S PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE SURPRISE: INVITING A HUNTER BIDEN ASSOCIATE NO ONE’S EVER HEARD OF OR CARES ABOUT
Tony Bobulinski is probably not going to have the impact Trump thinks he is.
    https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/10/trump-biden-presidential-debate-tony-bobulinski

Tonight marks the final presidential debate before theelectionand afterbombingthe first andskippingthe second,Donald Trumpdesperately needs it go well. Unfortunately for the president’s handlers and those hoping he can pull off a second term, as of Wednesday, Trump had reportedly donelittle debate prepand famously listens to no one, and therefore would be unlikely to listen to advice like, “Try not to come off as such a horrible person.” But according to new reports, Trump does have one trick up his sleeve:

According to theNew York Post, whoseJoe Bidencoverage of late has beenpannedbyNew York Postemployees,Tony Bobulinskireceiveda May 2017 email that supposedly came from a business associate ofHunter Bidenoutlining “renumeration [sic] packages” for a Chinese venture. The email laid out how equity would be divided, with “10” going to “H” for “the big guy,” which Bobulinski claims referred to Joe Biden. Naturally his claim has not been substantiated.

While Trump’s 2016 debate stuntfeaturingBill ClintonaccusersKathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, andPaula Jonesas guests made an impact for being outrageous and gross, it seems unlikely tonight’s gambit will have the same effect, given that (1) Trump and company have been pushing the baseless Biden family-corruption plotline for sometime and it appears to have made no difference to voters and (2) no one has ever heard of this guy and won’t have any idea who the camera may or may not pan to at the debate. But Trump, whose brain just plays a continuous loop of Fox News and QAnon conspiracy theories, apparently thinks this is his ticket to a second term. Per theNew York Times:

The president has signaled he intends to focus on Mr. Biden’s son Hunter and his business dealings, after an unsubstantiatedNew York Postreport on that subject. But some advisers fear he will not be able to control himself and will attack the younger Mr. Biden in a way that engenders sympathy for the Biden family, a dynamic that unfolded in the first debate when Mr. Trump mocked Hunter Biden’s history of battling drug addiction.

“The president, in order to have a successful debate, has to go on offense without being offensive,”Brett O’Donnell,a Republican strategist, told theTimes.“The American people care more about their own family than they do about the family of Hunter Biden. Especially during the pandemic.” That point, of course, is entirely lost on the president and is unlikely to be found in the hours prior to the debate:

Topics for tonight's final presidential debate include COVID-19, race and national security
    https://www.newschannel5.com/news/e...e-include-covid-19-race-and-national-security

It’s a historic night in Music City as Belmont University hosts a sitting President and a former Vice President for the final presidential debate of 2020.

The 90-minute debate will be split into 15-minute segments, with each candidate having two minutes of uninterrupted time at the start of each topic. During that time, the opponent's mic will be off. However, the mics won't be muted during open discussion.

The topics that will be discussed tonight are: fighting COVID-19, American families, race in America, climate change, national security and leadership.

This week, President Trump's campaign manager sent a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates, demanding the committee to "rethink and reissue" the topics.

His campaign is accusing debate organizers of helping former Vice President Joe Biden by leaving out foreign policy as a topic. However, Biden's team responded saying everyone agreed that the topics would be determined by the moderator.

The CPD responded and said “no debate in 2020 was ever designated by (the commission) as devoted to foreign or domestic policy.

With that said, the president is expected to still grill Biden on his son Hunter’s business ties, as well as his foreign policy record in the Obama administration and as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, The Washington Post reports.

MTSU professor John Vile says when the emphasis is on COVID-19, Biden does very well. He expects Trump to make a big splash tonight and continue to emphasize his stance on the economy and stock market.

“It's basically ‘you know I had this perfect economy everything was going right and then COVID ambushed me but don't worry about it, we're coming back, we're turning the corner we're going to have four years of economic growth,’” said Dr. John Vile, MTSU Political Science Professor.

The president called the decision on the topics unfair and the moderator of the debate as biased.

Originally, the Commission on Presidential Debates scheduled three forums between the candidates. The second debate, which would have been held town hall style, was canceled after President Donald Trump declined to participate when the commission announced the debate would be held virtually due to Trump's recent coronavirus infection.
