We dont allow noise on the trading floor. Period. This includes TV's, radios, etc. Market commentary is all BS anyway. If you listen to it or believe it you are doomed .....

When I studied for the bar exam in 1991. I knew I was in a bit of trouble. I did well enough in law school but I only studied about half as much as my friends. had unusual recall of what professors said in class (becasuse I rarely wrote notes, I listened) and I remember most of what I read. So I was fine in school. But I really have a much shorter attention span than most so I just did not know how I was going to stuff in all that bar eaxm information.

The bar required us to learn a large amount of info in a month 1/2. I was the type of person who took classes in what I was interested in--- so many of the topics on teh bar were new to me. I knew I could not put in the reccommended hours let alone the hours my stressed friends were capable of. I did some research on accelerated learning.

I bought mozart, boroque, some other classical music. I had to buy a c.d player and better speakers. Pretty darn nice boston acustics that lasted until a month ago.

I played the suggested music while studying and I learned everything. It was awesome. I went to review class in the morning surfed or played volleyball in the after noon. Studied till 10-11 and went out for beers a couple times a week.

First-- I learned to love the music. Second my room was tranquil while all my friends roomates and girlfriend were wound up and almost nuts. I enjoyed studying. Third. I really think I had much bettter retention than normal. And I actually looked forward to my time with the books. I was confident the whole time. The music seeme to adjust my attitude adjust my suroundings and increase my effectiveness.

I look back upon my time studyind for the bar with very good memories. It was the music.

But I had to take the bar three times. (no I passed the first time)

  5. I went to college with a great guy who always had everything under control and always listed to music while he studied. He flunked out his first semester.

  6. During the two weeks of preparation for competitive entrance examination in french engineering schools, I had been listening to Carmen's Opera all day long during the two weeks! I loved the version with Theresa Bergansa (although I'm not very fond of Operas in general): it was on 2 recorded tapes and when it was finished I just put it again so that in a single day I listened to it maybe 6,7 times even more I don't remember exactly, so that the tapes at the end of the ten days became completely destroyed by the repetitive use: no cd at that time :D.

Really crazy when I think about it now ! I have never done so before or after that period. It helped me keep focused.

  9. A bit different from Ozzy "Suicide Solution" I'm listening to now:

I will let you know if I feel like committing suicide after that :D

  10. I listened to it twice: to the probable dispair of my ennemies, no I don't feel like committing suicide :D. In fact I have heard worst musically speaking.

Now I suppose that a teenager that is somehow unbalanced can be incited to commit the act but I doubt that he can do so if he is normal. Now there can be unconscious effect especially if they had used special techniques - the so-called hemisync - but since I'm not specialist I can't really judge.
