The Perfect Edge

  1. I heard Electric "clicking' on that damn "clicky" keyboard that he loves so much...

sigh...You would not believe how my life is with this man. ...We have been married for 19 years and sometimes I could just kill him.

A FORMULA ERROR!!!!!!! WHY DIDN'T HE DISCOVER THIS WHEN IN BETA FORWARD TESTING!!!!

I am going back to sleep now...

  2. Very sloooow going...nothing to report....but the spreadsheet and the formula change is encouraging.

I know the system is valid because as we increase leverage, everything reacts correctly.

I set things up real loose and the ranking of the set-ups may be still too conservative. But we need time to forward test.

We have not had a losing day yet in the live trading. We are not making much yet, but I am not worried as this is the safest system I have ever written and traded.

This give us time to get used to winning and managing that emotion.

  3. I am pushing this system to its edge. I find myself searching to find the entries and when the signal gets near, I am right there waiting.

I find when pushing, that I rely on the system more than ever...and you really got to trust your system to push it like this.

  4. Its slow going...but day-by-day it improves...
    • 1.37 Profit Factor
    • 72.22% Win Rate
    • 54 live trades made over 26 days.
    • Max leverage seen 10:1
    • Max DD seen under 1% (this is during, after and between trades)
    • Not one losing day yet.(including weekends, thats 365 days/year)

  5. Looks close to perfection....

    What's your net result/max draw ratio ?

  6. I am looking for over 2 on the profit factor...the winrate will drop probably..

I cannot track that data you ask for...other than to use the spreadsheet...there is an intraday during the hold that is not tracked. I guess I could put a ratio in the spreadsheet, but it might be misleading. thanks for looking.

let me think on this. I need a dll file to track the 2 second updates that my platform gives...then i could report max DD accurately..the problem is that I hold a hedged twin pair and must rely on the Account Summary Unrealized UPL field.

I got 9k in there and have never even been close to having a $900.00 DD. I am strongly considering to move 15k additional in there soon. I do not know how long this will work.

  8. Why bother with nagging about pushing an edge to it's edge?

BTW, a profit ratio of 1.37 would scare the sh*t out of me. It's a guaranteed ride to the poorhouse. :D

THE PERFECT EDGE is simply an edge that always wins, never loses. :)

  9. I am working on it...

note the incredible low max DD...compared to a 48% APR projected yield (well actually the spreadsheet says 56.98%)

I am focused on DD...I never really consider winrate without the profit factor. If the DD stays in synch with the targets...I will be at a block and will need some inspiration. I need to bridle the drawdown while raising the targets without increasing duration.

Also notice that in first 18 days there was not any trading in this system (we got off to a real slow start and I had some last minute adjustments to make)...but I put those days in there anyways because I am better at playing against the negative rather than dealing with winning...lol (the story of my losing life, when will I realize that it is half full?)

  10. I like your line of thinking and I think it could work...You do not need to know which comes first in this scenario, you just need to be there....You need a 24 hour trading room and a Wifey however :)

Please excuse the PM thing...I need to focus right now and in a period of my life where I cannot get off on tangents...I am struggling to deal with what I think is a discovery that will change my trading life...I just hope I have time! I do need a backup system however and need to find it...as these systems never work forever. Since I started trading with Wifey, I have found discipline :)

Funny I feel like a young new trader all over again...I have not lost the passion.
