Same reason we don't let upstream states set guidelines for water or air protections.

  2. Bottom line is that if states don't have to follow federal guidelines for shutting down then they don't have to follow them when opening up, and since this has already been established it's just more selective outrage from the left. A meaningless debate at this point other than to score political points. Staying open is now the number one priority. What are the guidelines fot that, state sponsored or otherwise? We need to know, now.

  4. CDC has guidelines for shutting down and opening back up. Fine. What are they for staying open, specifically? They cannot be the same for all areas as all areas are not impacted in the same fashion. What are manageable numbers when the rise in infected and dead most certainly will happen? Since no gutless politician or other "leader" will say, for all the obvious reasons, cowards, political gamesmanship, etc., etc., I citizen Obvious will put forth some ideas. Two months ago we did not know what was a manageable number. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, gag:vomit:, we can say that their knee jerk fear based decisions were off the mark. Okay, fine, people make mistakes, but now we do have some idea of what are manageable numbers. Lets take NYC as the most extreme example. At peak approx. 900 people per day were dying. Did the system collapse as was predicted? No it did not. Conclusion, 900 dead per day is a manageable number, at least for a couple weeks. After that the system may start to break. Other cites had a couple hundred per day. Did their systems meltdown? No, they did not. Conclusion, they can manage those type numbers again if need be. So these peak numbers should be the threshold for closer monitoring. Should they be hit again, it's a flashing yellow, IOW, keep an eye out. Should they slightly exceed it's a flashing red, stop and proceed with caution. Should they blow through like a knife through warm butter, full stop, shut it all down. If that's the case then we must endure the economic hit. It becomes an all hands on deck, nothing else matters, a vaccine is a must have and right quick. Until then, full lockdown. What we cannot, must not do, is panic our way into another shutdown when we now know what are manageable numbers. To do that once we can chalk off to fear and ignorance of the facts. To do it again would be a plan to fail, and that is unacceptable. Why? This is why.

  5. Well I like the cruises and DisneyWorld so I look forward to them opening andmy main concern is the average person is just a pig when it comes to their surroundings so I have little trust for the masses in crowds at the moment.

  7. That's the problem. We don't KNOW all that much yet. Sure, we have speculation and hopes/desires... but those can be shot down as we move along.

  8. Once again Trump mangles what needs to be said. Too much testing isn't the problem, putting too much emphasis on it is. Unless you're symptomatic and in need of treatment testing doesn't mean much. One wants to be treated for the right thing, but if no symptoms, who cares? Oh yeah, you're positive, go home and quarantine for 2 weeks. Is that happening on a large scale? No. Is there any real way to enforce that without China like draconian measures? No. Are we going to do that? No.
You test negative. Big deal, that gives you the this moment in time snapshot. Means nothing as an hour later you can become infected. Test all you like, but what's needed is ever improved treatment protocols and eventually a vaccine. Test results just give the talking heads something to yammer on about and political pundits more ammo for the never ending campaign season.

Testing works best when performed with proper Contact Tracing. This was proven by South Korea, Germany, and other countries which have successfully responded to COVID-19. Most states in the U.S. do not have the necessary number of tests available to perform even basic testing associated with Contact Tracing. Ignoring the fact that most counties don't have Contact Tracing set-up for COVID-19.
