I wouldnt put too much credence into what Obama says. When you consider that Mark Zuckerberg built Facebook from his dorm room and Obama had $200 million to build a website and Obama's was a complete debacle.

Lets not forget Obama's big dinner party where his administration was not capable of managing a guest list.

How did Obama's Middle East policy turn out? Not so good.

You do realize there is a plague running through our country under Trump’s watch and we can’t even test all the people with symptoms, never mind enough to safely control the virus’ spread. This is the biggest failure in modern history.

You want to talk about websites, where’s the google website Trump promised for people to get tested for Covid?

Middle East policy, we have negative oil. You might want to focus more on domestic policy ASAP.

Seriously... using statistics someone show me that this lockdown is useful for low risk groups when many hospitals are half empty and laying off staff.

    1. Initially we were told the shutdown was to flatten the curve for hospital beds.
    2. Somehow that has morphed into prevent exposure.

Can I ask how (2) is going to happen absent a cure or herd immunity?

as soon as people get back out... boom... corona virus. And some may even have less powerful immune systems since we have been isolating themselves... So you get a cold or sore throat or a flu which you may not have gotten before... then boom Corona grabs you.

This is real ... they keep warning us about a second wave. So if there can be a second wave why are we locking down healthy low risk people right now?

Think about how unjustified locking up low risk groups is right now...
Why is 30 days from now better than 2 weeks ago?

We have emergency room staff being laid off in hospitals all over... and we are still locking down low risk groups... It seems so dumb... wtf are we doing... The virus is not going to just say... hey nice lockdown I am not infecting you now?

Low risk people get infected and pass the virus just as easily. Worst yet, they remain asymptomatic and become spreaders to high risk people. Why is this even hard to grasp? Hospitalizations aren't that low for mid-age people either.

It is absolutely ridiculous. They are claiming a 60 day lockdown. What happens after 60 days? It is going to be no more safe at that point. The flatten curve thing made sense, but we are well beyond that.

so we stay collapsed for 18 months til we have a cure... are you thinking clearly?
The virus will be passed sooner or later... later is not better absent a cure.

low risk people have to take the risk while hospitals are empty.
high risk people stay in lock down til there is a cure or we have sufficient herd immunity and are willing to take the risk.

    That is the way.

or we just follow Germany's model of lowering the numbers enough for r0 1.2 or whatever that figure is. These are elementary problems for epidemiologists and statisticians, you've just got a goddamn moron not listening to them

R0 models based on what is happening with the sick group... mean nothing at this time.

We need to know what is happening in a low risk population to make any science based decisions regarding being open or shut with respect to low risk groups.
