The Path to Heaven or Hell

Discussion in 'Religion and Spirituality' started by emg, Feb 13, 2012.

  1. You know how well active funds perform against the indexes right? These students are learning "industry standards". The industry standard for funds is to under perform the market. Why would you want to pay a lot of money to learn the techniques that fail fund managers again and again?

You also seem to think that there are secrets that are only taught in the best colleges in the country. What you fail to realize is these schools tend to attract smart, hard-working people. Smart, hard-working people don't exclusively reside in these places.

What is the point of this nonsense. Are you saving up to go to Harvard? How is all this going to help you reach your goal of becoming a successful trader (if this is a goal)?

  2. although there is SOME insight into the OP schematic.

IMO, this business it not so much about education, rather, like most any pursuit, what you do with a clear mind and discipline.

Ultimately, know yourself, and understand that you will become what you think on the most.

There is certainly a stench about these lower end operations "selling training/edu". That is a common theme in many operations inside and outside trading, ie. life coaching. IMO even the CFA program has such an element within it.

There is no short cut to hard work. Do well with a little and you will have more. The lack of trading skill that is masked by high AUM, and nepotism is built by design.

Nothing, absolutely nothing can take away the skill a trader will attain from an understanding of the markets. More importantly, the skill of being able to apply such an understanding to opportunity and having the courage to act upon these opportunities.

The best trade will be the next one to come. Everything is possible, including failure, which is the underlying learning element to success.

One must see how to make a heaven out of himself. Otherwise, even if you are living in heaven, you will only suffer.

Keith Linder is an IT professional, with over twenty-five years working in both hardware and software industries. He abruptly was introduced to the paranormal in 2012 when he and his girlfriend moved into a haunted house outside Seattle, WA. In the latter half, he detailed the poltergeist-like activity that took place there, including spontaneous fires, stone-throwing, teleportation, and objects levitating (view related images), as well as his scientific/theoretical analysis. As the activities increased in intensity by 2014, clergy and paranormal teams became involved, he noted. The church advised him to display his religious beliefs openly, and when he placed bibles in the house, several of them caught on fire while he was sleeping. One of the bibles disappeared entirely, only to reappear after a year and a half in flames on his bedroom floor, he recounted.

Objects like his keys would frequently go missing only to turn up in strange places like the freezer, said Linder. He had burn remnants in the home tested, and the results showed they were made of bone char-- an incinerated reduction of bison bones. This ash was known to be used by Native Americans in the 1800s to create calligraphy, and he believes the poltergeist(s) were attached to the land underneath the house (which was constructed in 2005). Linder also theorized that the poltergeists might levitate or move different items through the manipulation of infrasound. This low-frequency sound is below human hearing range, but scientists have in recent years demonstrated how it can move objects, he reported.

  5. Just wanted to mention the Bible also is a book that explains the paranormal:

Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

2 Corinthians 11:14 Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Acts 16: 16 Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” 18 She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.

19 When her owners realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities.

Note: If the girl had merely been pretending to predict future events, her masters wouldn't have noticed that this ability had stopped working. From the Christian perspective, only God truly knows the future, but demons can either give educated guesses about future events, or cause their own predictions to take place.

Also, from the Biblical perspective, all beings were created by God. Angels can be categorized into God's angels or the angels who rebelled along with Satan and we call demons.

The formula for Heaven's very simple
Just follow the rules and you will see
    And as life travels on
    And things do go wrong
Just follow steps one, two and three

Step one, you find a girl to love
Step two, she falls in love with you
Step three, you kiss and hold her tightly
Yeah, that sure seems like Heaven to me

  9. Really? Sure there are many wolves in sheep's clothing who do nothing more than to prey on others for power and money. But evil people doing evil things are in every part of society.

There are MANY believers in Jesus who have undergone tremendous amounts of suffering to be able to share the good news that Jesus is willing and able to forgive sins because He paid the price to be able to forgive us.

There are many Christians in Afghanistan that realize that to continue to believe in Jesus will mean loss of life and possibly torture. Yet they still believe.

Paul said it very well, when faced with persecution, imprisonment and possible loss of life:

Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 21:13

There have been many recorded testimonies, even since the early Christians, of those who were persecuted or killed because of their faith in Jesus or because they shared about their faith. They did not believed in Jesus for personal wealth/riches or to gain a following or else they would not have been willing to die. They shared about Jesus because they had come to know Him in a personal way and wanted others to have this same relationship with God even at the cost of their lives.

BTW, these believers who give up their lives so that others may hear about Jesus are demonstrating true love. Jesus said:

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:14
And shortly after, He died for us, in our place, so that we could become His friends.
