The Path to Heaven or Hell

  1. I doubt a simple bachelors, or even a masters degree will get you much, especially if it is just from some common University. When you get a Phd, from one of the few prestigious Ivy Leage schools let me know. Then maybe if you have enough money you will not lose, you will probably still lose, but you will not just lose.

  4. Univeristy of Portland? You must be kidding. Do you think a degree from a podunk University like the University of Portland is going to help you get a job on Wall Street? You probably won't even get an interview for your 4 years worth of student loans.

You got off to a bad start emg with all your crap about how all small traders lose with no empiracle evidence to back it up. Especially since you have never defined what a "small trader" is.

I would never hire you, no matter how much higher education you had. But then again, traders don't look to get hired. Getting hired is for small traders that lost.

  6. To the kids who are still in school, I would encourage them to go to a good university, get good grades, and try to get a good job at a financial institution. If they can get a trading job, good. If not, they will still be able to enjoy the good life and can still trade on the side.

To some extend, trading shouldn't be viewed as a career. It's tough, and there aren't many jobs out there. You could get a job at a prop firm, but if you don't have any financial support for your living expense, it could be a real pain.

However, just because you don't have a University education, it may not mean trading is not for you. If you are genuinely into trading, and you are still surviving the baptism through fire (eventhough you are burnt to the core), then I encourage you to continue on. Life would be meaningless without trading.

If it is worth it, and if it is worth it to be able to prove to everyone who doubted you, then I
think you should continue on this journey.

The Holy Grail is there. I know it in my heart. So should you.

  7. emg is a manifestation of everything that is wrong with the world in it's most benign form, and must always be ridiculed to keep from spreading. He made himself a legend by discouraging anyone who attempted what he failed at. It's hard enough without someone constantly telling you, "You will fail."
