The Other Side Of The Arizona Immigration Debate

  1. I am sure you don't think that is so...but it is a fact. They were criminals against the United States of America...

If they were not criminals, they would not have need a pardon:

The Confiscation Act of 1862 authorized the president of the United States to pardon anyone involved in the rebellion.

I'm not really big on the single language country theory. I essentially forced my children to learn Spanish, and my wife and I know some of that language too. This is becoming a 50% hispanic country rapidly, let's pull our heads out of the sand. And, frankly, before we import millions of immigrants from the Middle East (like the Europeans and Canadians did) I'd rather see millions of South Americans come here, we need them. The difference, as I said before, is that I'd opt for the best of those people not the worst - meaning the ones who would follow the law, maybe even some of their top university students, etc.

  3. If we demanded that people speak the language, that Spanish (or Italian, French, etc.) were a second language...then the people on the whole would believe that the immigrants are wanting to become American...and really, why wouldn't they want to speak English if they wanted to be Americans?

It is pretty much a fact that those who speak with proper English tend to move up the ladder faster in America.

Shoot, people coming here from China learn to speak English...because they know it will help them get ahead...

Maybe, I'm not sure. Don't forget, the victors write the history. What I meant before is that, in their hearts, most southerners were defending their country (their State) not stealing anything.

  6. Moron ?? LOL It isn't my fault you don't make a good analogy and fyi I wasn't being disrespectful, a wise ass maybe but disrespectful no. You guys take your politics like you take your religion, you think you're infallible. And just like religious fundamentalist you on the right lose your common sense. That is the part that may be genetics. And don't be lecturing me on being respectful and then call me a moron. Like your analogy it's weak.

Just Got This From A Friend: Moving To Mexico

    "Dear President Obama:

I'm planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and my wife who is pregnant again with twins (or maybe triplets) and I would like to ask you to assist me. We're planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and we'll need your help to make a few arrangements:

We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, green cards, work permits, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

    1. Free first-class medical care for my entire family.
    2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
    3. Please print all Mexican Government forms in English.
    4. I want my children and grandkids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.
    5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.
    6. I want my kids and grandkids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.
    7. Please plan to feed my kids and all of my grandkids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
    8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services, and be able to vote for more services.
    9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico, but I don't plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won't make any special effort to learn local traffic laws. I can’t read Mexican road signs.
    10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer and that they speak politically correct terms to me with respect and no racial profiling, which should be made against the law by the time I get there next month. Be sure to have water available for my entire family every mile inside Mexico, and a shade tree, benches to sit on would be nice too.
    11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my housetop, put U.S. flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th, and I plan to march with the other Americans who do the same thing as I am doing. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
    12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start. I don’t do lawns here, and I only hire Mexicans to do the manual stuff, you know.
    13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice, polite, respectful and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.
    14. I want to receive free food stamps.
    15. Naturally, I'll expect free rent subsidies.
    16. I'll need income tax credits so that although I don't pay Mexican taxes, I'll receive money from the government.
    17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Government pays $4,500.00 to help me buy a new car, and $1,500.00 per month for each of my children and grand children from social services.
    18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I'll get a monthly
income in retirement, without my contributing anything into their program.
    19. And be sure to explain to your buddy that I expect amnesty laws to be passed within the year.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that President Calderon won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

Thank you so much for your kind help. You're the man!!!

Update On Good Old Sheriff Joe

You all remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona, who painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb? Well...

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!

Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!

Maricopa County was spending approx $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.

The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.

The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.

The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.

I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.
He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the Prison.

Yup, he was re-elected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff.

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO

HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF

AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER, THIS IS WHY:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio (In Arizona ), who created the 'Tent City Jail':

He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but 'G' rated movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.

He took away cable TV until he found out there was a Federal Court Order that required cable TV for jails so he hooked up the cable TV again; only let in the Disney Channel and the Weather Channel.

When asked why the Weather Channel he replied, 'So they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my Chain Gangs.'

He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.

When the inmates complained, he told them 'This isn't the Ritz/Carlton......if you don't like it, don't come back!'

    More On The Arizona Sheriff:

With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports:
About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before.

Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their PINK SOCKS.

'It feels like we are in a furnace', said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the TENTS for 1 year. 'It's Inhumane.'

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic. He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: 'It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your mouths!'

    Way to go, Sheriff!

Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

    :D
