The Other Side Of The Arizona Immigration Debate

Discussion in 'Politics' started by AAAintheBeltway, May 7, 2010.

  1. Yes, the liberals are forcing you to be biased to see both as thieves...

Liberals are so powerful they forced the people to elect George W. Bush...twice.

Why even try to resist such an overwhelming force that made people vote in the worst president ever...twice?

    Per my post last page:

"How about this plan: the government announces their resolve to stop illegal immigration; they start imposing fines to those who hire illegals, which will act to diminish the illegals' incentive to stay; illegals are arrested (a la Arizona's law) and deported with a misdemeanor mark on their record, which will make it harder for them to re-enter legally; as a result the flow in the country slows down even further; at the same time, the government clarifies legal steps that people across the border can take to be admitted legally in this country legally, etc. Key to all this is the truth that we don't hate Mexicans, we just don't want criminals having a field day at the expense of this country's interests."

Not perfect, but it's a start. Perhaps the professional politicians can come up with something better. I'm only a trader :D

And don't forget, for every illegal who leaves, our %%$$## health care system becomes cheaper... With a little luck, the new, improved "secure our borders" immigration system will pay for itself :D

No, seriously, I do believe that we need immigrants, our birth rate (below 2 per family) is not sufficient to maintain us as a nation. It's just that I want it legal and under control, selecting for the best that other, poorer and overpopulated countries have to offer, not the outlaws!

Actually, I'd love to see the United States Of North And South America (a la European Union) some day. Also, we need to be careful not to become the place where the world's criminals come to stay.

  4. I don't understand how being far right totally destroys peoples common sense, another bad analogy. Must be genetic.
Here's a better analogy for you, your baby and wife and mom are starving. You know how to do taxes but don't have a license to do taxes. You get hired and you do the taxes to feed your family. Did you break the law, yes. Does that even compare with someone who steals watches or is a pedophile, of course not. You guys on the right totally baffle me, how can people competent in other areas of life be so blind in the political area. And immigration isn't a left or right issue by the way, the teabeggers recently made it a left/right issue.

Don't be stupid... If you want an honest answer, be respectful, you moron... I'm not far right, I'm just right...:D

  6. I can get behind that...

However, do you really think this is going to work?

How much will it cost? How will it stop the smugglers of human being (the mules who bring in the illegals)?

We gave amnesty to the Confederate soldiers following their beat down in the Civil War.

Clearly they were criminals for their uprising and fighting against the Union soldiers.

But we forgave them as it was in the best interest of the country.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just not hire someone who doesn't speak English?

Imagine if that were the law...you don't hire people who don't speak the language, who don't have decent documentation.

Could we get the documentation difficult (if not reasonably impossible) to counterfeit?

I think the real issue with the illegals is that they take more than they contribute to the government and the economy, and they refuse to learn English and speak English in America...

So if those are the real issues, address them first, right?

Then, I should be stopped, it's as simple as that. No need to compare it to anything else, just stop the illegal action, now. Btw, illegal immigration is not a joke, it really destroys people's livelihood, ask one of our millions of unemployed.

Securing our borders is very important - even AlQaeda is now coming in the US via Mexico, right? I would use the Reserves to do this right and gradually employ more technology for help. However, diminishing the demand is even more important, make the employers pay a steep fine when they are caught, if they can't demostrate even simple documents for their employees. Then we may see more fake documents being used, and we'll need to go after the ones who perpetrate those... It's called fighting crime, expensive but better than the alternative. Legitimate workers will take those jobs and our tax receipts will go up, who knows. It has to be done.

I don't really think that the Confederate soldiers were criminals - most of them were legitimate conscripts, defending their legitimate country... or, at least, that's what they believed they were doing. Yes, they were fighting for the wrong cause/side, but that's very different, they were not breaking any of "their" laws, and the law of the times was mostly the State law, right?

  10. Just keep repeating to yourself "I am kicking his ass...I am kicking his ass..."

    Meanwhile, the glue gets stickier...

So keep on keeping on...watch yourself on the escalator as it goes up...
