The Opening Orders Thread

  1. 3 fills / 6500 shares

    2 short / 1 long +52.00

    ATT got away...(292.00)...

exits are key...learn by doing...get whacked...repeat until profitable...

    just relating my own experiences...

  2. It did take a bit of "finesse" this morning to exit properly. Up only $300 or so, but 'coulda' got stuck in HON if I exited too early.

(Plug: 4 seats left in our 3 day school starting on Monday, if anyone has an interest or a friend www.stocktrading.com/training).

    All the best,

    Don

  3. 2 fills short
GE +.09 had a partial exit order in to buy at 37.67 & got price improvement fill at 37.62 & got the rest at 37.60 no price improvement
DOW +.07 all covering exits placed & filled on ARCA

Still working on getting in the habit of exiting on ARCA for liquidity rebate, but today worked out good with the price improvement on NYSE exit.

Any observations from others on NYSE vs. ARCA exits on the hybrids ???

  5. 2 long (1w-1l), 1 short loser, -200

Would have been a decent day had I noticed I got filled in LOW, which opened late. Cost me $400 but would have been a winner had I seen it. Of course those always end up going against you, right? They can't go way more in your favor than you would have taken if you were paying attention. Oh well, could have been much worse, too, so lesson learned. Gotta make adjustments so that doesn't happen again.

A trader has a NYSE Stop in the market on his Opening Order and it gets hit...

If there is a better price available on ARCA (or any ECN) than on the NYSE, will the specialist fill the order at the better price by sending it to the ECN?
