He recovered 76% of the defrauded funds for the victims, the highest recovery rate of funds from fraud in history. The guy deserves every single penny that he's been paid.

  2. I wrote "In the cum-ex scandal in Europe?" The USD 700 million are the estimated fees to lawyers in a different scandal - the cum-ex scandal in Denmark and other European countries.

The USD 1 billion is the number quoted in the Netflix Madoff documentary. Your article is 10 years old.

I know what you posted. I know what link I found and the age of it. What I asked for is whether or not you have a link that sez $700 mill is for Denmark alone.

  7. This is the third and last time I write this: "In the cum-ex scandal in Europe!" which of course has nothing to do with Madoff. The common ground here is lawyers ending up as big winners on the back of scandals.

Well on this one, the lawyer really doesn't have a choice but ends up becoming the big winner unless he works pro-bono. But with this on such a huge scale, spanning the entire world, there pro-bono is really not an option. The guy at least recovered 76% of the funds defrauded, the highest in all fraud recovery history.

Ok my mistake in the topic you titled The one winner in the Madoff Debacle you are talking about ... something else.

Anyway in the cum-ex scandal I believe the 1.1 figure is Kroners not Dollars - maybe I am mistaken again?

Prosecutors in Denmark have charged three Britons and three Americans with defrauding the Danish treasury of more than 1.1bn kroner ($175m; £130m; €150m) through a German bank.
