The first question is why didn't the State Election board do any more than send a letter?
Answer: Let me answer this for you - they were merely covering their a$$es. Why didn't the State Board of Elections in North Carolina which has full subpoena and investigatory power into elections & campaigns take any further action.

The section question is why the Democratic federal district attorney make any attempt to investigate and address the problem?
Answer: Well the only federal attorneys ever to follow-up on election fraud in North Carolina over the past 150 years have been Republicans, not a single Democrat. This is true with Bobby Higdon who in 2018 has indicted and convicted multiple illegal voters, and back in 1980s when the Republican federal U.S. attorney in Asheville attempted to prosecute people for vote buying but was blocked by Democrats - a story outlined at this link - https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/how-democrats-and-republicans-used-to-buy-votes-in-nc.328001/

    1. So even when they did something, it's their fault.

    2. Why didn't the Republican attorney do anything given Republicans had more of a focus on voter fraud? 80's aren't relevant, irrelevant deflection.

    1) Bottom line - The Democratic State Election board did nothing. They merely covered their ass.

    2) The letter will never forwarded or sent to the Republican federal District Attorney Bobby Higdon after he took the office in September of 2017.

As outlined in the WRAL article -

The latest news from North Carolina...

Cooper to appoint temporary state elections board
    https://www.wral.com/cooper-to-appoint-temporary-elections-board/18090784/

The current State Elections Board is disbanded by court order on Friday with no reprieve. A new State Elections Board defined by the legislature will be seated on January 31st. In the meantime the governor is appointing a temporary state elections board to continue the 9th District investigation.

Read the article- the entire thing is still a complete circus.

The Democratic governor of North Carolina has accused the state GOP of intentionally stymieing an ongoing effort to investigate allegations of absentee ballot fraud during the recent election for the Tarheel State’s 9th Congressional District.

As Law&Crime previously reported, Republican pastor and would-be representative-elect Mark Harris bested Democrat Dan McCreadyby 905 votes in the race for North Carolina’s 9th congressional district, according to unofficial tallies. Since election night, however, it’s been alleged that the GOP’s victory was tainted by the fraudulent harvesting and/or destruction of Democratic Party absentee ballots. The North Carolina Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement subsequently declined to validate the election night results.

Notably, several campaign employees hired by a contractor for the Harris campaign have admitted to illegally collecting absentee ballots from voters in violation of state law. The man at the center of the allegations, McCrae Dowless, has maintained his innocence while GOP officials have made pains to distance themselves from his vote-collecting operation. An investigation by election board commenced, but due to a recently-enacted change in state law, the board was forced by a court last week to dissolve prior to concluding their investigation.

The new law also provides that the new board technically cannot take effect until January 21, 2019. But Democratic Governor Roy Cooper said he would appoint an interim board under the old law anyway. This interim decision would have resulted in an elections board composed of three Democrats and two Republicans.

Cooper said he had wanted to name the board members from those who recently served on the freshly-dissolved board but Republicans resisted efforts and claimed any such action would be illegal. In turn, the state GOP declined to submit names of any nominees for Cooper’s proposed interim board.

Now, Cooper says that he will not name an interim elections board as previously promised–and Cooper blames the state GOP’s lack of cooperation over his decision.

“The current state Board of Elections will not be named because the chair of the state Republican Party has refused to put forward nominees to the state Board of Elections, obstructing action on the ongoing investigation into election irregularities in the 9th Congressional District,” a press release from the governor’s office noted on Wednesday.

Cooper also accused the GOP of undermining the integrity of the state’s elections.

“All North Carolinians deserve to have confidence in a system of voting that ensures honest and fair elections,” the governor noted. “If politicians and the people they hire are manipulating the system to steal elections, all of us should pull together to get to the bottom of it and stop it–regardless of whether the candidate who finished ahead in a tainted election is a Republican or a Democrat.”

As a result of Cooper’s decision, a planned January 11 hearing on the absentee ballot fraud allegations will not go forward as scheduled and the overarching controversy is likely to now be taken up by the U.S. House of Representatives.

    Typical shameless Republican

Mark Harris (R) said he’ll ask a judge to certify his election in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District immediately, even as a probe into alleged election fraud continues, the Charlotte Observer reports.

“Harris’ announcement came after North Carolina state elections officials postponed next week’s hearing into allegations of election fraud in the 9th District — and after Gov. Roy Cooper accused Republicans of blocking the probe.”

The back and forth on this by the Democrats and Republicans are just partisan bickering. The governor is attempting to extend the end date of the current election board (which consists of no registered Republicans) despite the court stating for months it was unconstitutional and providing four previous extensions. The new election board which will include equal appointees from each party will be seated at the end of January,

Mark Harris is well within his rights to demand a court certify the election. A previous court decision stated the investigation of the 9th District must be concluded by December 21st. In the absence of any conclusion of the investigation his election victory must be certified. His current court filing simply demands that the courts follow their earlier rulings. I believe he has about a 60% chance of being successful, but any decision will be immediately appealed. The citizens of the 9th District in North Carolina have a constitutional right to be represented by a certified election winner once the U.S. Congress is seated.

Mark Harris is meeting with state investigators in Raleigh today. I expect more will come out of this meeting -- assuming the transcript is posted (which is getting less likely).

I just want to know who is going to be indicted and sent to prison for this alleged fraud. When it is said and done I expect the answer is no one.... and the same fraud will occur in the upcoming 2020 election on both sides of the aisle.
