So a big corp can exploit workers as long as it is part of a competitive system? I missed that page of the manifesto. Ricter - I am just trying to disabuse of this big govt crap. 1. we got you to deny you are not happy with who Marxist ideas are carried out by govts. 2. Now, we have to get you to concede big govt really exists to transfer wealth from the people who start businesses and those who work in them to the cronies of the politicians and the politicans themselves. now back to the thread... lets start by taking down obamacare... even its authors have called it a train wreck. Instead of setting it up to benefit insurance companies, lets start again.
What's the exploit? Starbucks pays roughly sector average wages, and additionally is offering a benefit package (which includes Obamacare) to make their company more attractive to work for than the competition.
Here is a ricter riddle. how many coffees should an employee earn an hour after taxes and deductions? Most of the people I see at starbucks look like they may have college degrees. Does anyone see the problem with crazy deficit spending and inflation yet?
Yes. And on top of that, Americans will be forced for the first time in history, to purchase a product from a third party.

Been paying my own for 17 years. Have been told to expect a 50% to 70% increase. What I detest is that I'll subsidize the people who are overweight and obese through their own CHOICE of eating like pigs, not exercising, etc. I can tell you that when you pay for your own healthcare you are motivated to take care of yourself through proper diet, working out, fitness, not abusing alcohol and so on.

Current America in a nutshell. Before the Progressive/Socialist movement, people had personal responsibility in every aspect of their lives. Now... people EXPECT the government to "take care of them", regardless of whatever personal irresponsibility they choose (sloth, gluttony, you name it)... all in exchange for their vote. Brought down the Roman Empire... bringing us down too.
Really, the Roman Empire was brought down by over-extension and diffusion. Which occurred because they regularly exhausted their soils, didn't understand soil amendment, so had to expand outward for new, arable land.
