Short version: Revered coach retires unexpectedly, lot of talk about stability etc, team's outstanding defensive coordinator is obvious choice to be new HC, numerous players come out in media to support him, then Danny embarks on two weeks of increasingly idiotic interviews. Now we read in Wash Post that out of football ex-giants HC Jim fassell is the likely new HC, and Jim Zorn of Seattle is in line to be offensive coordinator and team is negotiating with /Ravens to hire Ravens DC Rex Ryan as new DC to replace Gregg Williams who will obviously be canned if he doesn't get HC gig. Message boards on the team's website are on fire with hatred for Snyder and vows to ditch season tickets, etc. The lesson here is there is a reason some teams are perenial also rans. The two most important positions on any NFL team are owner and GM.

True, we did not actually experience that victory, but we came as close to beating them as anyone else has this season. That's the kind of team we believe we are, and I think the Super Bowl will prove that." Couglin and his assistant coaches have been painstakingly breaking down game films from their Week 17 meeting with New England, analyzing every vital, near-victorious second for anything that might help them come that tantalizingly close to winning for the second time in as many months. They acknowledge that the Patriots are very good indeed, but the Giants believe they can draw on the experience of that near-victory, the confidence they discovered in barely losing to undefeated New England, and the lessons learned in forcing Bill Belichick's juggernaut to come from 12 points behind and beat them in the final minutes. Look at those N.E. Pats: 0-2 in the playoffs against the spread. And now they are -12 vs a N.Y. Giants team that almost beat in last regular season game. As I look at Pats last three games they have turned into one of those High Growth/High P/E stocks (the ones in which your mom warn you about) that are way Overpriced and at some point will come crashing back down to earth. Can N.E. win the Big Game and go 0-3 in the playoffs against the spread. Can N.E. pull out of this slump and finally cover. Will be most interested in hearing from AAA on the Big Game???
