That game was just boring to watch. Being stuck watching that game as the late game was terrible. I'll say this - while the score didn't reflect it, the Browns kept it close with the Pats. It was not a blow out and outside of a couple plays, we were in that game. The Pats are beatable and I think the Colts will prove that on Sunday. The Pats are not as good as some around the league may think. They are good, but very beatable. As for the Browns game, it was looking like we were going to give St Louis their first win of the year but came back strong and covered the spread. Good game for us as we could not lose this game. Anderson to Braylon is looking very, very nice lately. FYI - Anderson is a restricted free agent coming up. I'm reading some interesting articles locally and on the web about what could happen to him. Leave it to the Browns to screw this up somehow though. We'll dump DA bring in the poster boy Quinn and find out he's the next Ryan Leaf. I can't get over how many fans here are just waiting for Quinn to get the start... We finally get a decent team together and many of the fans still want Quinn in there. 2 steps forward, 10 back...
It was great for the league which deperately needs a shakeup. I say we go out of the country with 2 games a year - maybe work out some kind of random draw with teams that get a bye week either before or afterwards. Play a game in Beijing or Moscow! Another thing they ought to do is figure out a way to cancel one inter-division game for everyone and play an extra game outside your conference. And get rid of Fox.. . And some new announcers would be good too. I never have the TV sound on for the Pats - I listen to Gino Cap and Gil Santos on the radio. Drives me a little nuts though because the games are slightly tape delayed.
We learned three things from the Pats/Redskins debacle: 1. The Pats are very good. 2. The Skins are not a good football team. They were soundly outplayed on both sides of the ball, outhit, outhustled and outcoached badly. They couldn't run the ball, and Jason Campbell put it on the ground whenever a Pat got near him. They traded up to the first round to draft this guy? He's been a pro for 2 1/2 years and he still doesn't know how to hold the ball in the pocket? He still takes forever to get a pass off? He's still late with the ball? Either he is too dumb to play or they need some new coaches. Maybe both. 3. Bill Belichick has to be one of the biggest jerks in the history of the NFL. We're talking about a guy who has already drawn an unprecedented series of penalties for the cheating scandal (the one that they were caught at). He is apparently in trouble for stalking some married woman in NJ. He has somehow precipitated an ugly fued with a former assistant, Eric Mangini. Now just to confirm to anyone who doubted what a complete and total ass he is, he runs up the score on Joe Gibbs like he is a college coach trying to impress the BCS. The Pats were leading by 38 points midway in the fourth quarter and he is calling one pass after another, then they go for it on 4th and 2 inside the ten, and score another TD. Then they do the same thing the next time they get the ball. What kind of fucking jerk runs up the score like that on a coach with three Super Bowl rings and a bust at Canton? No one expects mercy. Only a bit of class. This guy has none. He may have outcoached Joe Gibbs yesterday, but Joe Gibbs towers over this miserable little twerp when it comes to character and class.
AAA - good points. When Billy was here in Cleveland as a coach, I couldn't stand him. Fine, he wins and has rings now, so good for him. But as you've pointed out, he is missing a few cards in his deck.
In other action, this is the kind of week that makes you feel like you did when you decided Google was way too expensive at 100. Pretty much all the obvious favorites covered easily. Nice job there Cleveland Browns. Is Anderson the new Favre? Can Chicago really be that bad? Griese threw some of the worst looking INTs you wil see in an NFL game. I like the Bills and they came through again. Keep an eye on that darkhorse team. I was a little surprised that the Iggles took out the Vikes playing at home. McNabb threw for 330 some yards. Could be a battle brewing between them and the Redskins to avoid the NFC East cellar. Look for a new coach in the team that pulls up last. The London game was ugly, but the Dolphins at least managed to beat the spread. Guess they're used to rain. Tonight could be interesting. Can Denver make it two in a row at night?
So Anderson is looking at being the Jon Kittna of Cleveland? Unceremoniously dumped, or in Kitna's case, shown the bench, after a great year to make way for the franchise QB. If Anderson keeps playing the way he has, he'll be cashing a huge bonus check somewhere.
Jason Campbell has never showed much of anything. The only decent year he's had since high school was when Auburn brought in Al Borges to coach him. Hard to imagine what the skins were thinking. Belickick....is just a little ball of hate and bitterness. LOL. The guy is a crack up.
A lot of fans here listen to Sonny Jurgenson and Sam Huff's radio broadcast of Skins games. The TV guys never tell you who's in the game or sitting and miss a lot of stuff that fans care about.
Moose Johnson comes across as a really bright guy on the broadcasts. If I was a team owner, I think I'd be looking at getting him in my front office.
If DA can keep this up, I will go insane if we dump him. The talk here is everywhere from 1) Trade him and get us back into the first round next year (if we can get a first) to 2) Trade Quinn. That would just be ironic if we trade Quinn after all of this. I don't think the owner's and gm's pride will allow that, regardless of the outcome. Too much was bet on Quinn being the next Kosar and I don't see pride allowing them to swallow that pill. And to think... our QB was here all along. We just needed to get off the Frye bus.
