  5. "She said the suspicious activity reports related to only 27 trades and were triggered because financial institutions are required to flag transactions when a trader makes more than 10,000 pounds ($13,000) a day..."

That's a lot of flags. Not an easy job being the one receiving all those flags.

Most huge fortunes are made by criminal means. All their assets should be ceased, tear down what the parents built.

  7. I never comprehended why prosecutors of white-collar crime aim to settle suits for money. That should not ever exist unless their job description was parking meter attendant. Paying a fine is not a deterrent when the stakes are so high and money can be made so easily for some with just enough criminal energy. Next, why are prison sentences so short for white collar crime? Why are they treated differently from drug traffickers? The harm to society is in many ways more wide spread. A drug dealer generally harms people in a close radius, most of whom made the decision themselves to hurt themselves. White collar crime in regards to insider trading essentially steals from future shareholders and buy-side and retirement funds, who in turn generate lower returns for pretty much anyone investing in their retirement.

This is the hypocrisy. Some guy growing some cannabis plants will get years in prison in many countries despite arguably he's actually helping people.
A guy who steals millions will just get a few months to a few years, this also goes to those who steal public funds. I guess the system is encouraging white collar crime and we need to take our cues.

  9. Why though? It's not like the aggregate of laws create a more just or fairly balanced society. Be a financial criminal and try to get away with it, nothing wrong with it, unless you get caught.
