Recently saw "The INCREDIBLES". Unbeleivable. Hands down, the funniest, probably even overall best movie ive ever seen. Its difficult to critique a movie with no actual actors, but they got it right with this one. In the genre, toy story was great, shrek was brilliant, but this was totally Awesome. And beats the heck out of most films WITH actual actors. Where the heck did they come up with this stuff? Frozone, the superhero who ice skates around the joint? hilarious. "Im still geekin out " over this movie. 10 stars. Out of 5.
Oh wow, I remember the first time I watched this movie, just sitting at home on a rainy sunday. I didn't realize how long the thing was, but was just mesmerized.
"The Departed" If you enjoy violence you'll probably like this one. On the other hand if your loathe to hear the "F" word, you probably won't.
The Requiem for a dream is very good movie. I will give 9 out of 10. sure it shows a negative aspect of life with drugs................. still one of the best one!!!
Infernal Affairs is one of my alltime favorite actions flix. it is the movie they "based" The Departed Upon. I haven't seen The Departed yet. American remakes of Asian flix GENERALLY leave me cold, although the remake of Dark Water was excellent. If you have not yet seen INFERNAL AFFAIRS, it is top-notch cop-action-thriller right up there with Heat.
Cars Sucks. (But then I only made it about half-way thru it.) Applying human qualities to automobiles just doesn't work the same way it does for toys, insects, and furry woodland creatures. About the time the dude-car and the babe-car starting wooing each other I found myself wondering how they would have sex and decided I'd had enough. Further proof, as if any were needed, that Richard Roeper is an idiot. H
"Deja Vu" Not bad, I'd give it 3 1/2 out 5 stars. Rented The DaVinci Code, personally I don't see what all the fuss was about. Overall I was a little disappointed.
Recently watched "Lord of War", with nicholas cage& ethan hawke. Bizarre, insipid, and strangely pointless. Not much for the actors to work with, granted, appaling dialogue and screenwriting, cliche ridden and predictable............ All as a vehicle, for Cage's character to give a running -3rd grade level intro to the arms trade, and hows its really bad? If they wanted an educational film about it, then a 20 minute factoid docusummary of the arms industry, a tour of some of the big manufacturing plants, and a few unicef advertisements and choice hospital/war footage would be harder hitting. I just couldn't care about these characters, not because they were flawed or immoral, but because the entire premise of the movie just stank. It's as if they didnt know whether they they were trying to make a character driven drama, an action movie, a tragic romance, a comedy or a gangster flick, and hit none of the above. Having a character addressing the audience JUST DOESNT WORK for me, i cant speak for anyone else. Ethan hawke's cardboard cutout agent was about as beleivable as winnie the poo as a prison warden, and Cage's attempts to draw the humour from his character and situation, fell flat in the face of such an overpowering, overwrought, and preachily "informative" narration. The wife was stunning, but a couple of hot babes dont make a show a movie (not this kind of movie, at least) The worst thing about this film.....is how much better it could have been. There was a lot of potential, to have been darker, more exciting, more "informative", if that was a goal, funnier, more varied, more tragic, better in so many ways.... the ongoing narration destroyed this film, and whatever message it had. Television quality, at best. 2 stars (from 5)
