One of my biggest beefs w/Biden is he was there in the WH when Obama's agenda was blocked by cons over and over w/stall tactics and bad faith calls for "compromise". His willingness to play the same game these last two years and waste legislative time is at best cynical (knowing he can't do much w/the votes he has but painting a "working on bipartisan" pretty picture) or incompetent at worse (not having learned from Obama's lessons). We know what Joe ran on, it's on the public record. If he's just being a politician and making promises he can't deliver to capture the prog vote, that's fine just don't expect that side to sit quietly or idly by (police reform after BLM & college debt being the most egregious). We saw how he did a 180 on the state of the union address on police reform. I don't have much love for the college forgiveness but I can smell the BS just the same. I've got 3 big ones I haven't seen much progress on: voter protections, police/prison reform, and not letting Trump et.al skate (he ran on this). We're seeing some movement on the latter front tonight and I've seen Garland deliver some platitudes on the voter protection front but it's not like we got here w/o the electorate holding their feet to the fire. Joe's got plenty of EO powers, he can do plenty.
Trump is the new POTUS in 2024. Forget the current polling. People are like the markets. They have goldfish memory and do not recall the bad of the past. All they want is the promise of the future. All they will see for now is the bad on the inflation on both products and wage, which will cause their CC and home and other interest rates go higher, so they pay more than what they were. This can all resolve itself by 2024 of course, but I do not think the dems have a chance in hell after watching 4 years of Biden 's gaffs. He is serious a buffoon on camera. And he gets worse by the day. EVERYONE ON THIS COUNTRY IS SICK OF HEARING ABOUT BO, AND SCRANTON PA. Jesus Christ, give that shit a rest! I don't know man. Biden may not be getting much love but these are unusual times. Your current-day "media moderate" I'd consider low-info voter and the progs while idealist are in tune w/con civil rights shenanigans. I think/hope you're underestimating their willingness to pick the "better of two evils". Even if the polls don't reflect favorably so. FWIW: Most on the left on this site who lean "moderate" are basically between the progs and the old dem guard. A "media moderate" is basically someone still not seeing the GOP as an existential threat to democracy. The GOP is simply not a reasonably viable alternative any longer & centrism between old guard dems and Sharia is delusion.
