I don't know. I bought two stock options and after that my account was restricted. Just two execution for buy orders and no selling, no spoofing, no fast cancelling, nothing That's the reason that i'm so annoyed. No response from them.
IB's risk mitigation includes an assessment of your being able to cover options that you hold long -- so the risk of an option finishing ITM holds (for IB) a risk of your not having the cash to cover auto-exercised options that were left unattended because you went fishing that Friday (and which mess IB then has to cover/clean up before Market Open on Monday...)...
They should return your funds though. Holding transfers without a legal reason is getting into the gray territory of things.
%% I thought you were going to mention Etrade WELL/ok. But you could have discovered by reading, before you opened an account=they are not a ''hand holding broker'' I trade some low liquid ETFs; no way the bid ask spread gets a good or great execution; but can plan an order/so no problem. Your English is fine; my mom taught English.REMEMBER the IBKR ad, with the founder riding a horse, ''never choose an ordinary investment vehicle''
Thanks guys for advice Almost two weeks have passed from last message and month from a request for withdrawal and still client service saying that my withdrawal under a comliance review. For account that was created in August and two trades without exits... Great job!
Something is very strange. Why the compliance review? What piqued their interest? Something very unusual in your account, transfers, trades, or requests for this or that must have made your account stand out. TBH I have to question wether we are hearing the whole story or not. Obviously IB can't divulge your account details so they are unable to defend themselves in the forum. But I suspect if they could and would, that we would hear a completely different side of things. Not an IB fanboy here... I do have an account with them and I am actively trading it, but otherwise I have no dog in this fight. Just sharing my thoughts, which of course COULD be wrong. What I would do, is cease all activity on your account for 3 or 4 days and then submit a request for a withdrawal to a legitimate checking account. Clear the books. Obviously you and IB are not a good fit. Maybe you and NOBODY are a good fit, I don't know. You could always try RobinHood.
I have seen many threads such as these about IB and eventually either the OP doesn't take up the IB reps offer to contact them via PM or the IB rep gives a very contrasting account of events. Thereafter we will never see this member post on ET any longer.
You are right. Sounds like "sour grapes." Posting such accusations without proof could see the poster breaching the laws of libel/slander etc. And you notice that the poster one of very, very few complainers, who appear here, but briefly; only to disappear in very short order. If the IB thread was flooded with hundreds of regularly repeated complaints I might worry. Since it is not so, one could safely assume that IB had a reason to question the OP's account.
